Billy Grimshaw has taken a look at the cards and has three he likes the look of, all coming from the valuable day up in the North East.

13:50 Newcastle - BetMGM All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Handicap

My first fancy comes in the first race broadcast on ITV from Newcastle in this three year olds only handicap, I really like the chances of favourite SILENT STRIKE for Andrew Balding. The trainer has always targeted this meeting as a key event in the build up to the flat season proper and given he has won the last two renewals of this specific race with remarkably similar types, the signs are all there this is the day for this Mehmas colt.

I'm happy with his draw in nine, happy with Oisin Murphy booked to ride again and will be very happy if, rather than last time when he got an easy lead and was collared perhaps due to inexperience rather than inability here last time in a novice, he has a pace to aim at in this competitive handicap. Al Najashi is the horse closest to my fancy in the market and while Ollie Sangster's charge could have more improvement in him, I wouldn't be confident he can dismiss a 10lb rise in the weights.

Silent Strike looks to have everything in his favour for one so lightly raced and I'd not be surprised in the slightest to see this be his last handicap run before heading off to bigger and better things on turf as the season progresses. Given the reputation of the filly that beat him in the aforementioned novice over this course and distance, going down to Soul Love of Karl Burke's by just half a length may look a serious piece of form. A repeat of that run could be enough to take this, but I'd hazard a guess he has even more improvement in the locker for a yard that are making this race their own.

15:00 Newcastle - BetMGM All-Weather Championships Mile Handicap

This is a seriously competitive contest, but i am hoping the form line to focus on is a Southwell handicap in early February. Chancellor came out on top that day, but was just one length ahead of TYRRHENIAN SEA and with Roger Varian's eight year old certainly showing no signs of slowing down, I am willing to chance him at the prices to reverse that form. Chancellor certainly has more upside given he is just four and could be a real improver all year for the Gosden team, but with that Southwell result coming off levels and now the elder statesman receiving three pounds from his conqueror there is only one logical selection.

The duo finished a fair way clear in what was a fast time and there is certainly a case to be made that Tyrrhenian Sea should've been closer given he was held up for a smidgen too long and then was carried left a touch by a wilting rival when attempting to perform his late thrust. Chancellor may well have had more in the locker, but with that horse the 4/1 favourite in here and Roger Varian's runner, who has been kept fresh for this while Chancellor has run again and tasted defeat, he is worth a nibble at 8/1 each-way.

There are, of course, not just two horses in this race and I will be cursing around the living room if the old boy Witch Hunter swoops characteristically late to deny my pick with Jamie Spencer in the plate. He didn't have a great season last campaign but has the back class to be very competitive off a mark of 104 and does have form here and on all weather surfaces in general. The Lost King is the main threat outside of the formline I am focusing on for that man Andrew Balding, but although he is weighted to be very competitive in a usual renewal of this race, I do think the fact the Southwell duo are here means this is a higher quality Mile than most years.

16:10 Newcastle - Midnite All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Handicap

NAP time now in the penultimate race from Newcastle and I am again siding with the king of AW Championships Finals day in Andrew Balding; REGAL ULIXES should take the world of beating here. He has to beat a Willie Mullins raider with Billy Loughnane booked in Gaucher, but for all you should never doubt the master of Closutton I am hopeful that the punters get stuck into him simply due to the trainer and the rarity of him sending a runner to this meeting, as I really fancy the current market leader.

Although Andrew Balding loves the all weather, I was disappointed over the winter to see they had gelded this horse as even though he'd been outclassed a few times in big races last year, I still thought there was potential for him to kick on at four. He can, of course, have an unbelievably successful career now without his two former prized possessions but there is a suspicion he will prove much, much better than this sort of company in time. His latest win at Lingfield was finally a demonstration of his talent when putting it all together as he won with minimal fuss, sweeping down the outside under a Rob Hornby exuding calmness.

Horses don't win like that unless they have buckets in hand and although plenty - including this scribe - were disappointed he could only finish sixth last time out, that was a race over a sub optimal distance and given the lack of a hard time he was given when not quite giving his all to get through a gap, there was perhaps this day in mind for connections. He will be tuned up to the gills for this by the man with no peer at this meeting and although the price is skinny enough, I am hopeful he drifts a bit given the alure of Gaucher. Anything over 5/2 is a smashing bet.

Today’s NAPs Table - Top 3

The latest NAPs standings for Thursday are headed by a Kelso selection, with the next two places both filled by Chepstow picks. It gives the table a clear jumps feel today, and there is a short-priced favourite among the leaders alongside a couple of stronger-value plays for punters looking beyond the obvious one.

The big-name newspaper naps are split across Chepstow, Kelso and Southwell today. Templegate has gone for a Chepstow runner at a backable price, Robin Goodfellow also sides with the Kelso card, while Newsboy looks to the evening all-weather action at Southwell for his main bet.

Racing News Round-Up

Sean Bowen and Olly Murphy have now combined for more than 100 winners this season after a treble took their partnership into three figures, another reminder of how dominant the champion jockey and the Warren Chase stable have been through the campaign.

Chelmsford's future is in doubt as the course owners have lost their licence to host racing, meaning their Good Friday card has been cancelled. This has caused much indignation for connections of horses aiming for this track rather than AW finals day tomorrow.

For punters, that means the countdown is on, and attention is already turning to the key dates before the big race, from declarations and weights to the bookmakers offering Non-Runner No Bet.

The race itself may still be just over a week away, but this is the stage when the Grand National market begins to come into much sharper focus. Anyone thinking about backing a horse early will want to know not only when the race is run, but when the field starts to take shape and which firms are already offering some protection if their selection does not make the final line-up.

Grand National 2026 - Key Details

Date: Saturday 11 April 2026

Start time: 4pm

Venue: Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool

Festival dates: Thursday 9 April to Saturday 11 April 2026

Race distance: 4m 2 1/2f

Maximum field size: 34 runners

The Grand National remains the centrepiece of the Aintree Festival and once again takes the prime 4pm slot on Grand National Day. It is the race everyone plans around, whether that is racegoers sorting their Saturday, casual punters looking for a sweepstake pick or ante-post backers trying to judge when to strike before the market tightens up.

When are the Grand National 2026 entry dates and declarations?

The build-up to the Grand National is shaped by a series of key dates, and they matter just as much as the race day itself for anyone looking at the market early. The weights for the 2026 running were published on Tuesday 17 February, while the five-day confirmation stage comes on Monday 6 April. Final declarations are then due on Wednesday 8 April under the 72-hour declaration system, giving punters a clearer picture of the final field before the Saturday showpiece.

With the field capped at 34 runners and reserves waiting in the wings, plenty can still change before the line-up is confirmed. That is why the ante-post market attracts so much interest at this point in the build-up, especially for punters who want to secure a price before the final declarations are made.

Grand National 2026 Weights and Racecard

The publication of the weights is one of the most important moments in the Grand National countdown. In a race as demanding as this one, over four miles and a half-furlong around Aintree’s famous fences, every pound is examined closely. The top of the handicap always draws attention, but the bigger debate tends to centre on which horses lower down the list may have been given a chance by the assessor.

There is also an added wrinkle for punters to keep in mind. Once the weights have been published, a horse that wins afterwards does not receive an extra penalty for the Grand National itself. That can leave some runners looking particularly well treated if they advertise their form in a prep race on the way to Aintree.

The latest runners, weights and full race details can be found on the Grand National racecard.

Which bookmakers are NRNB for the Grand National 2026?

Non-Runner No Bet, or NRNB, is one of the most attractive concessions in Grand National betting. It means that if you back a horse in the NRNB market and that horse does not run, your stake is returned instead of being lost. In a race where the line-up can still change before final declarations, that extra layer of protection is a major factor for many punters.

bet365 are among the bookmakers currently offering the concession for the race later this month, along with Unibet, William Hill, Sky Bet & Paddy Power.

Why NRNB matters before the Grand National

A standard ante-post bet comes with risk. If a horse is backed before the final declarations and then misses the race, the stake is usually lost. NRNB changes that equation by allowing punters to take an early price without carrying the full downside if their selection does not line up on the day.

That makes it especially appealing in the week leading up to the Grand National, when interest in the market ramps up but uncertainty still remains around the final field. It offers a more forgiving route into one of the biggest betting races of the year.

Should you bet on the Grand National now?

Some punters prefer to wait until the final declarations are known so they can study the confirmed field in full. Others are happy to move earlier if they believe a horse is overpriced or if they want to take advantage of bookmaker offers before the madness of Grand National day.

For those on the hunt for a new bookmaker for the Grand National, the aforementioned group that are NRNB on the race are the obvious place to star.t. Whether you decide to make your first bet with your selected firm a wager on the National or prefer to get the account ready nice and early, you are safe from any surprising withdrawals or non runners being classed as losing bets, which they would be with other firms that are only betting antepost.

The newspaper names have gone in different directions on Wednesday, with Templegate siding with a Kempton runner, while Robin Goodfellow and Newsboy both look to the jumps action for their best bet of the day.
Racing News Round-Up

Aidan O'Brien was left lambasting his computer after it 'went bananas' and removed entries for Gstaad and Albert Einstein for the 2000 Guineas moments before the deadline. The master of Ballydoyle will now have to supplement both, which would be irritating to most owners but will barely be noticed at the Coolmore operation.

Dan Skelton enjoyed a big Tuesday at Bangor after a wave of support for his runners was rewarded on the track, with Coumeenoole, Service Minimum and Halftheworldaway all winning for the yard. Bookmakers were left sweating on Skelton multiples after the first two went in, and the stable duly completed a notable treble before the card was out.

The NAPs table has already taken shape with a clear front-runner, while the big-name newspaper tipsters are spread across Newcastle and Wolverhampton in search of a winner. Below, we’ve pulled together the current Top 3 in the NAPs standings, the leading picks from Templegate, Newsboy and Robin Goodfellow, and a couple of the main talking points from around racing this morning.

There is a proper gap in the leaderboard in the NAPs table this morning, with one selection already clear at the top and a pair of well-fancied rivals next in behind. Wolverhampton’s evening card supplies the current number one, while Bangor and Newcastle provide the other two names on the podium. Here is how the table leaders line up right now.

This year’s renewal has depth, proper pace and more than one horse who could turn out to be better than a handicapper. With 22 runners declared, good to soft underfoot and a fresh suggestion that the low numbers may again be favoured, the 2026 running has all the ingredients for a proper spring puzzle rather than a procession for the favourite. Allow Billy Grimshaw to take you through the race and give his idea of the winner:

In the Lincoln you traditioanlly want a horse with enough class to cope with a searching gallop, enough tactical speed to hold a position when the race begins to split and enough upside left in the locker to make a mockery of a mark that looked fair in November. That is why the four-year-olds dominate the conversation year after year. They are still open to improvement and often arrive here with the strongest possibility of making a big leap from one season to the next. Recent history backs that up and last year’s winner Godwinson from the William Haggas yard carried 9st 4lb to victory as a four year old, which matters when you begin weighing up the credentials of this year’s market leaders.

The draw adds another layer. Doncaster’s straight mile can magnify tiny differences in track position and the prevailing wisdom - although it can change like the wind - is those drawn low will be at an advantage. It is not the only thing that matters, but in a field this competitive and of this size you would rather be on the right side of a developing pattern than fighting against it. That makes the likes of Botanical, Shout and Anno Domini automatically more interesting before you even get to their form. Pace, too, will be crucial. Lincoln winners are often the ones who travel kindly, get the tow into the race, and are still moving smoothly while others are already being ridden. This does not look like a race short on speed, which should ensure it is run honestly and place the emphasis on balance, stamina at the trip and the ability to quicken off an end-to-end gallop. In that kind of setup, you want a horse who is not merely well handicapped on paper, but one who looks built for the day rather than simply gifted an appealing mark.

That is why the obvious names are obvious. La Botte has attracted support because he has already shown the sort of ability that makes you wonder whether handicaps are only a temporary stop on the road to better things. He was a neck second in the Britannia last summer, then returned in the Wolverhampton trial for this and shaped better than the bare result when fourth after a wide trip and a hold-up ride that asked plenty of him.

Harry Eustace has been bullish enough to suggest he could prove a Group horse in time, and there is no doubt he has the class for a race like this, but stall 13 is a small concern if the low-drawn runners end up favoured.. That is the one small inconvenience in his profile, because the rest of it is polished. The bigger issue is the one every Lincoln favourite has to answer when he creeps towards the top of the handicap: 9st 12lb off 104 is a serious burden in a race that tends to reward quality allied with a touch of leniency. He might simply be good enough to breeze the race with that weight, but he has less margin for error than the hype suggests.

If La Botte is the glamour angle, ETERNAL FORCE is the cleaner handicapping angle. He is also a four-year-old, but one coming here off a mark of 96 with 9st 4lb, a figure and a weight band that look much more like traditional Lincoln material. He ended last season with a hat-trick at Redcar, Newbury and Haydock, and this race has long been the target. William Haggas has said he is hoping for a big run, and it is difficult not to respect that given both the stable’s Lincoln record and the shape of the similarities to last season's aforementioned winner, Godwinson.

Then there are the horses who can make the race collapse around the principals if either of the front two underperforms. Shout is one of them. He is not quite as fashionable, but he was fourth in the Balmoral Handicap and has the look of a horse who belongs in strongly run mile handicaps. His draw is appealing if the low side is indeed the place to be, and there is a lot to like about a runner who arrives with solid big-field form rather than just the promise. Rogue Diplomat is another impossible to ignore. James Owen’s four-year-old ended 2025 on a four-race winning streak and is already a dual Doncaster winner, which gives him a natural course angle that many of his rivals lack. He may not quite be up to this level, but there's only one way to find out.

I also would not dismiss Anno Domini, who has a runstyle that could be tailormade for this contest as the race begins to unfold. Charlie Appleby trusts 7lbs claimer and son of Ryan Toby Moore and that is not an insignificant move in a handicap where the front of the market contains horses carrying lumps of weight. Be in no doubt, Toby is worth all seven of those pounds.

Billy Grimshaw has cast his beady eye over the cards and likes the chances of three at decent prices...

13:50 Doncaster - Cammidge Trophy

The flat racing fans will be rejoicing when the Brocklesby begins half an hour before this race, but to say I have no opinion in that two year old opener would be an understatement. A bunch of unraced two year olds running for trainers having merely a couple of runners apiece over the last few weeks? Pass.

It is hard to be really strong on anything at this strange juncture in the year when the flat begins, then pauses, before seemingly beginning again post Aintree, but I did think JAMES'S DELIGHT was unlucky to finish fifth when 3/1 fav in this race last season and at a standout best price of 8/1 with BOYLE Sports at the time of writing, four places, he rates a fair each-way play. I doubt he'd have troubled last year's winner upon rewatching the race - blimey, it feels weird studying flat races again - but he would almost certainly have bagged backers some place returns had he not met serious traffic problems when winding up for his final thrust. There is also an argument he was disadvantaged by the draw and pulling keenly too, so with all the excuses he'll do for me.

He will of course have to beat the last two winners of this race in defending champion Spycatcher and favourite Montasib, the 2024 winner. I'd favour the latter named to reverse form from the last time that duo clashed, but with both now eight I would worry something will improve past them both. James's Delight is only five and sprinters do seem to improve at a different rate than the middle distance hoses, so while he does have something to find with the top two I'm confident he can. Clive Cox's form certainly wouldn't put you off him, either. His record fresh, first, first and the aforementioned fifth in this last year, is another feather in his cap too.

The draw is something I've not missed worrying about while in jumps mode and I'd prefer to be middle to high here, which is a negative for favourite Montasib in one. James's Delight has made all before but I suspect it'll be Art Power and Myal jousting for the lead here and with that pair in 7 & 9 respectively the wide draw in 12 for my pick should be fine so long as they give him a decent toe into the race and don't provide blockages as he encountered in 2025.

14:08 Kempton

This could be a race with a very interesting first few furlongs as I am not sure who will win the battle for the early lead. Blindedbythelights heads the market and has almost always led in his races, but seemed last season at least to have a bad case of seconditis and I could not be backing him in a race with such a potentially competitive pace battle at around 3/1. Sir Mark Prescott is well known for his horses coming to the boil slowly as the season progresses, too, and although I'm sure his horse will be ready for this it won't be the be all end all.

Once described confidently by his trainer as the better juvenile compared to East India Dock, LAVENDER HILL MOB has been somewhat disappointing for James Owen but when the five year old is good, he's very good. I think he is the horse that'll eventually win the battle for the early lead and while he is a real speedball over jumps, sometimes seemingly not even quite seeing out two miles, on the level he seems to be able to lead a tiny bit more intelligently. If Mason Paatel does get to the front in this race I am anticipating he'll attempt to stretch his rivals and while there could be one stalking and pouncing, I do think this lad will stay the trip even if run at an honest clip the whole way.

Trojan Storm is another who will surely be prominent but he runs from out of the weights here and was resoundingly put in his place last time out, while Belgravian is the chief threat I worry about for Lavender Hill Mob. Versatile in terms of his placing in the race and with another winter behind him now surely an even stronger stayer, I do not want to see Jason Watson cruiising behind my fancy as if he is I'm in no doubt he'll have the pace to go past. Nevertheless, at double figures compared to the 3/1 on offer for that Balding rival, the value play is obvious and it is Lavender Hill Mob.

14:57 Doncaster

I love Docklands as a horse and there is no doubt in my mind he's the best horse in this race, but this absolutely stinks of a prep run for the Ascot specialist and with his patchy record on seasonal debut throughout his career, he has to be taken on at around the 11/8 mark. If I get out my crystal ball for a moment I foresee him coming with a thundering late charge but not quite getting going fast enough to take this, which I'm sure would be absolutely dandy for his connections. The question is, then, who to take him on with and I've come down on the side of VOLTERRA.

That could be a daft decision given we have a Sussex Stakes winner in here in Qirat but he's a horse I've never been able to warm to. Additionally, he could be on the same sort of schedule as Docklands if connections think he can be aimed at the biggest prizes again this year so may not be on his A-Game for this. Volterra and connections, on the other hand, will see this Listed prize as an eminently winnable race and one that could be a highlight of his CV when all is said and done and given he looks most likely to lead to me and his ground versatility, I wonder if Kevin Stott will attempt a bold move in going wire to wire.

Should he roll the dice and try this I have absolutely no stamina concerns and this is just the sort of race in which you see one of the lesser lights sometimes steal it from the front end given the chasers may not be given the toughest of times in attempting to reel him in .Kevin Ryan is hardly in great form, with just one win from seventeen, but this is not the time of year to be too hung up on that sort of thing and with this undoubtedly a big day for Volterra he'll do for me.

The NAPs leaderboard has a broad feel to it today, with the top three spread across Fontwell, Wetherby and Newcastle rather than everyone latching onto the same obvious favourite. Mon Champion heads the standings for racing-daily.com after climbing to the top of the season-long table, while The Brigadier goes in search of more profit with Yummy at Wetherby. Andrew Mount is the value angle of the trio, siding with an 8/1 shot under the lights at Newcastle.

The newspaper names are nicely split up on Friday, which gives this section a bit more life than those days where they all pile into the same short one. Templegate heads to Lingfield for his best bet, Robin Goodfellow takes a swing at a much bigger price over the jumps at Wetherby, and Newsboy focuses on the Newcastle evening card. If you like comparing the major names before making a call, they are definitely not reading from the same script today.

The NAPs table has thrown up a nice spread across the day, with the current leaders siding with runners from Chepstow, Southwell and the Chelmsford finale, while the newspaper names are split between Southwell and Chelmsford.

The performance kept the spotlight firmly on his Flat campaign and ensured he remains one of the sport’s biggest talking points heading into the weekend.

The Nicky Henderson star is back on the Flat in the Virgin Bet Novice Stakes, with Ryan Moore booked to ride and punters are turning to boosted winning-margin markets rather than the short straight win price.

Constitution Hill made a huge impression when winning at Southwell last month and his second Flat start has quickly become one of the biggest betting stories on Wednesday’s card. With the favourite trading at very short odds, firms have gone hard on enhanced prices tied to how far he wins, giving punters a much more interesting way to play the race before the off.

Constitution Hill Latest For Tonight’s Kempton Race

Constitution Hill lines up in the 7:30pm Virgin Bet Novice Stakes at Kempton on Wednesday 25 March over 1m4f, with Ryan Moore taking the ride for Nicky Henderson. It is his second run on the Flat after that striking Southwell success and there is already a huge amount of focus on how dominant he could be this evening if he settles and travels as smoothly as he did on debut in this sphere.

That is why the winning distance market around the race has become more interesting than the straight win line alone. He is such a short-priced favourite that bookmakers have had to get creative, pushing specials based on him winning by three lengths, five lengths and beyond as punters search for a bigger return on one of the most popular horses in training.

Best Constitution Hill Odds Boosts Tonight

These are the standout Constitution Hill boosts and specials available ahead of the 7:30pm at Kempton. Prices can move quickly close to the off, but the main theme has been clear all afternoon with firms leaning into the winning-distance angle.

Why Punters Are Looking Beyond The Straight Win Price

This is the key angle behind the whole market. Constitution Hill is expected to take plenty of beating tonight, but the standard win odds are so tight that punters have naturally drifted towards margin bets and enhanced specials instead. It turns a race dominated by one horse into a much livelier betting heat and gives bookmakers the chance to offer something that feels more worthwhile than simply backing a very short-priced favourite to do what the market already expects.

That also mirrors the reaction to his Southwell victory, where the style of the performance mattered almost as much as the result itself. Once a horse wins that impressively, people stop asking whether he can beat this field and start asking how far he might put them away. That has been the clear story of the market ahead of tonight’s Kempton run.

Ryan Moore Adds Extra Interest To Constitution Hill’s Kempton Return

Ryan Moore taking the ride only adds to the appeal of the race. It gives the contest extra weight from a betting and media point of view, and it also strengthens the feeling that this is far more than a routine midweek novice. Constitution Hill carries a profile that reaches well beyond a normal all-weather audience, and that kind of star power is why his return has generated so much noise in the build-up to post time.

For anyone weighing up the specials, the 3+ lengths and 5+ lengths markets look the most obvious place to start, combining a realistic winning scenario with a better return than the basic win-only line. The bigger-distance bets are there for those expecting another demolition job, but the sweet spot for most punters is likely to be the middle ground where Constitution Hill can still win in style without needing a complete blowout.

Best Constitution Hill Betting Angles Before The Off

The straight win is the safest route but not the most exciting, which is why the enhanced distance markets have dominated the conversation all afternoon. A 3+ lengths special is the obvious starting point for those who think he will simply prove too classy, while the 5+ lengths and 6+ lengths bets are the more aggressive play for punters expecting him to stamp his authority on the race from the home turn.

Whatever angle you prefer, this has become a live betting story because Constitution Hill is not just another odds-on favourite on a Wednesday card. He is one of the biggest names in training, he is back at Kempton tonight under Ryan Moore, and bookmakers know there is huge appetite for a fresh way to back him before the stalls open at 7:30pm.

The NAPs table remains the quickest way to see which tipsters are actually delivering over the long haul, and Wednesday’s top three are spread across Lingfield, Hereford and Kempton. The current table leader stays with the all-weather at Lingfield, while the nearest challengers side with one from Hereford and another from Kempton later on the card. It gives the section a nicely balanced feel, with afternoon and evening action both represented.

The newspaper names are not all piling into the same race on Wednesday, which gives this section a bit more depth than usual. Templegate heads to the Kempton finale for his main fancy, while Robin Goodfellow and Newsboy both look to Lingfield for their best bets. For punters who like following the better-known names, the strongest focus falls on the all-weather cards rather than the afternoon jumps meetings.

Racing was in mourning yesterday as Nicky Henderson announced that Sir Gino had been put to sleep following an infection. The six year old was one of the most talented hoses we'd seen in recent years and with so much still to achieve it was devastating to learn he could not be saved.

Constitution Hill is one of the headline acts on Wednesday evening at Kempton, with Ryan Moore booked for the former Champion Hurdle star as he bids to make it two wins from two on the Flat in the 19:30 novice stakes.

The NAPs table has a familiar look at the top, with Racing Daily still setting the standard, while the newspaper names are spread across Southwell and Taunton as punters look for the strongest angles on a quieter but still competitive midweek card.

Today’s NAPs Table Top 3

The NAPs competition remains one of the quickest ways to see which judges are delivering over the long haul, and Tuesday’s top three gives punters a nice spread across the three meetings on offer. Wolverhampton provides the current table leader’s pick, while Southwell and Taunton supply the other two names on the podium. Here are the three most profitable tipsters in the standings and the horses they are siding with today.

A couple from Southwell and one selection from Taunton make up RaceOlly's best bets this Tuesday. See all his fancies here on our daily tips hub.

Templegate & Other Big Name NAPs

The best-known newspaper names are split between the afternoon jumps action at Southwell and Taunton. Templegate heads to Southwell for his main fancy, while Robin Goodfellow and Newsboy are both with runners in the 3.45 at Taunton and 3.30 at Southwell respectively. If you like looking for where the big-name confidence sits, that pair of jumps cards is where most of the attention falls today.

Constitution Hill is back in the spotlight ahead of Wednesday evening’s Kempton run, with Nicky Henderson looking forward to the former Champion Hurdle star taking the next step in his Flat career after that eye-catching Southwell debut win last month.

The Flat season is beginning to loom larger too, with ante-post attention already building around the Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday. Early value seekers have started latching on to Mudbir as one of the more interesting handicap contenders for the traditional curtain-raiser.

There are seven races at Kempton from 2:00 to 5:15, seven at Wincanton from 2:15 to 5:32 and seven on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton from 4:15 to 8:30, so there is plenty for punters to get stuck into.

Today’s NAPs Table Top 3

The NAPs competition has a familiar feel to it on Monday, with the leading lights siding with runners at Kempton and Wincanton. The current table leader is on Mr Griffiths in the 2:45 at Wincanton, while second place goes with Sonic Pioneer at Kempton and third-place tipster Andrew Mount relies on Thelasthighking in the 3:30. It gives the afternoon cards plenty of shape, especially with Kempton dominating much of the strongest support.

The newspaper names are focused on Kempton and Wolverhampton today. Templegate’s best bet comes in the 4:05 at Kempton, Robin Goodfellow heads to the 6:00 at Wolverhampton for his NAP, and Newsboy is also on the evening all-weather card with his main selection in the 4:50. Between them, they give punters a solid spread across both codes and a handy guide to where the strongest media confidence lies.

Dan Skelton is already looking towards Aintree after smashing through the £4 million prize-money barrier for the season, with the Grand National meeting now looming large in both the major races and the trainers’ title picture.

With Wembley hosting one of the biggest domestic games of the season, this is the kind of headline-grabbing football betting promotion that is likely to catch the eye of punters looking for a simple way into the action.

The market itself is as straightforward as it gets. You simply need one goal to be scored in Arsenal vs Man City, and Sky Bet will enhance the price to 50/1 for new customers placing their first qualifying single. With both sides packed with attacking quality and silverware on the line, it is an offer that should generate serious interest before kick-off.

Deposit at least £5 into your betting account.

Place your first single bet of up to £1 on the offer.

If there is at least one goal in the match, Sky Bet will pay the enhanced winnings in free bets.

Match Preview

There is plenty riding on this one at Wembley. Arsenal head into the Carabao Cup final chasing just a second major trophy under Mikel Arteta in six year, while Manchester City are desperate to land silverware in a season that has not quite hit their usual standards. That adds extra weight to an offer built around just one goal being scored, especially given the attacking talent on show across both squads.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal go into the final in strong form and recently beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Martin Odegaard has been treated as a doubt going into the game.

Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino are both expected to miss out.

With Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Arsenal’s forward line carrying plenty of threat, the Gunners should still fancy their chances of creating openings at Wembley.

Manchester City Team News

City come into the final needing a response after a difficult recent run, including Champions League elimination and dropped league points against West Ham.

Ruben Dias and John Stones are available again for Pep Guardiola.

Josko Gvardiol is out, while Marc Guehi is ineligible.

Even with some issues at the back, City still have enough firepower to make an over 0.5 goals line look very modest.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings between Arsenal and Manchester City have been much tighter than many would expect, with Arsenal unbeaten across the last five clashes going into this final. That run includes two draws at the Etihad, a huge 5-1 home win in February 2025, and a narrow 1-0 victory at the Emirates.

It may feel a bit more of a sedate showing on the terrestrial channel compared to the stunning four day Cheltenham Festival, but Billy Grimshaw has still taken a look over the cards and recommends two bets, both at tasty enough prices...

13:50 Newbury

To say Harry Cobden did me a favour at Cheltenham with his inspired frontrunning ride on Kitzbuhel, one of my strongest antepost fancies for the Brown Advisory, would be an understatement and I am more than happy to be backing him to win again aboard GRAND VENDETTA here for Paul Nicholls. Last seen winning in taking style at Taunton on heavy ground, on first glance that form would not scream out to back the winner on good to soft at Newbury next time out, however this looks an uncomplicated proposition and the way he knuckled down to win after looking uneasy is a good sign of a strong mind. The form has been franked by both the second and fourth from Taunton since and a mark of 120 looks to seriously underestimate this lightly raced Ditcheat inmate.

In time I've no doubt this lad will be a stayer but he is not short of pace judging by the way he put that Taunton race to bed and in the hope Cobden has him either going from the front or sitting prominent just off the leader, I can see him keeping the winning thread. He is by far the least exposed horse in here and although there are dangers aplenty, none more so than favourite Storming George who could not live with the class of the Dovecote last time out but is proven in this sphere, he looks the one to side with at anything north of 5/1. The chief threat in my eyes is Fresh Perspective for Albert Bartlett winning trainer Jamie Snowden.

He is a bona fide front runner and although, like Storming George, he was outclassed up in grade last time out, having had wind surgery and now making his handicap debut he could be tough to catch should the rest of the field be snoozing. Harry Cobden, though, is the best in the business at pace judgement and so whether he chooses to take a lead or battle for pole position, I am confident he will come home in front onboard Grand Vendetta.

14:40 Kelso

After once again making a mockery of a few big handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival, it is no surprise to see a Dan Skelton trained horse heading the market for this valuable handicap chase north of the border and Diamond Dealer could well be another that the team have managed to squeeze in expertly with plenty in hand. He has top weight to contend with here but will almost certainly be ridden aggressively by Tristan Durrell and a return to quicker ground should be in the favour of this course winner, but this is a deep race and I am not about to row in behind one at 3/1 or shorter given the volume of rivals.

Kelso is a sharp track and as such I am looking at more speedy types than those who utilise their stamina over this sort of intermediate trip and that has led me to bottom weight DEFENCE WITNESS, who importantly is fitted with first time blinkers here. He has been in good form all season, running four times with a third, a first and two second places to his name. Frustratingly, one suspects, for those who have backed him regularly the two seconds came in races he was a short price favourite for. In both contests I am of the opinion that if he was fitted with some headgear to focus on the job a smidgen more, he'd have won.

Sam and Jonathan England have combined as trainer and jockey for two winners from their last six over the last fortnight, so the yard is patently in good nick, and with this race being by far the most valuable this lad has run in I think he will be cherry ripe to run the race of his life. He is a definite hold up horse but Kelso can suit those if the leaders go off a fraction too quickly and we have seen already this season Defence Witness pick up well from the rear. Should the blinkers mean he is more alert to his jockey pushing the button when the time comes, and given he is receiving weight all round, I envisage him swooping late and at worse bagging some place money and at best, the race itself.

There is plenty for punters to get stuck into, from competitive handicaps at Newbury to ITV4’s Friday Night Live card at Wolves, and the NAPs table has thrown up a lively mix of short-priced confidence and a couple of bigger-priced swings.

Today’s NAPs Table Top 3

The NAPs competition has a familiar feel at the top today, with Newbury dominating the strongest fancies and the leading three tipsters all siding with runners from the Berkshire card. Paul Nicholls’ Captain Bellamy heads the table leaders’ selections, while Helnwein has attracted support from several respected judges in the 3:00. Times Are Green is the outlier in the top three, but that bigger price makes him the interesting one if you want a swing at some value rather than just following the obvious market principals.

It's a busy day today for RaceOlly and his followers, with five picks in total across Newbury and Musselburgh. See all his fancies here on our daily tips hub.

Templegate & Other Big Name NAPs

The newspaper names are split across Newbury and Musselburgh today, and there is a decent bit of overlap in the stronger races. Templegate goes with an improving chaser at Newbury, Newsboy sides with a well-fancied Musselburgh hurdler, and Robin Goodfellow lands on one of the more obvious Newbury contenders. If you like to look for consensus before placing your bets, Helnwein and Dearkeithandkaty are the pair that stand out most from the major names.

Charlie Deutsch set to miss the first two days of Aintree: one of the main post-Cheltenham stories still rolling on is Charlie Deutsch’s 14-day whip suspension after his Grand Annual win on Martator. The ban rules him out of the opening two days of the Grand National Festival, which is a notable blow given how strong Venetia Williams’ team can be at Aintree.

Fact To File’s spring target still up in the air after Cheltenham withdrawal: Willie Mullins has indicated that no final call has yet been made on where Fact To File will run next after missing Cheltenham on account of the ground. Aintree and Punchestown are both still in the mix, so that is one of the key stories to watch as the spring festivals begin to take shape.

There is a familiar mix at the top of today’s NAPs standings, with a couple of in-form jumps picks leading the way before the evening action at Newcastle gets underway. The strongest figures on the live table this morning belong to three tipsters who are all siding with runners at Ludlow and Sedgefield, so that pair of afternoon meetings could have a major say in how the leaderboard looks by teatime.

Templegate & Other Big Name NAPs

The newspaper names are split across the cards today, with Templegate heading to Newcastle for his best bet, while Newsboy and Robin Goodfellow both look to the jumps action. That gives punters a useful spread across the day, from the early Sedgefield contest through to the evening finale on the all-weather.

Cheltenham is still dominating the agenda, with multiple Festival-winning jockeys set to serve bans after whip-rule breaches.
The Grand National picture is already beginning to sharpen, with fresh focus on Britain’s leading Aintree hopes after their Cheltenham runs. Haiti Couleurs is among the names being talked up as a major domestic contender, while Johnnywho’s Festival victory has also kept him firmly in the conversation ahead of next month’s big race.

Me neither. It was a fantastic week of racing at Prestbury Park and the tickets are already booked to return this time next year. Here, I cast my eye over the 2027 Cheltenham Festival markets – assessing the current state of play in the main divisions. There is plenty of value to be had!

BEST BET – KOPEK DES BORDES to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase (4/1)

Firstly, Kargese deserves plenty of credit for her gutsy success in the Arkle. To produce a performance like that just five weeks after a hard race in gruelling conditions at the Dublin Racing Festival shows just how tough she is and I have no doubt she’ll be able to hold her own in open company next season.

However, I think KOPEK DES BORDES is a generational talent and I’d be flabbergasted if he didn’t reverse that form in time. Making his first start since November, he took a little while to settle but when he did, my God. He was pinging fences and I’d say he was giving Paul Townend a hell of a feel coming down the hill.

My reaction immediately after the race was that he’d have won without making that mistake and I’m yet to see anything to change my mind. In fact, different replay angles have only confirmed my view that Kopek Des Bordes would’ve won cosily enough and I cannot wait to see what he can do with an uninterrupted preparation.

Bookmakers are taking no chances at 4/1 but the Champion Chase will be his target and he clearly acts round Cheltenham. If he gets to Prestbury Park in one piece, and with a slight bit more juice in the ground, I’d say he will be the one to beat. He’s the young buck coming through the ranks and he’s my strongest fancy for next year’s meeting.

LONGSHOT – IL ETAIT TEMPS to win the Ryanair Chase (50/1)

Some of you will read the above section and think – what about 2026 Champion Chase winner IL ETAIT TEMPS? And you’d be right to ask that question. I’m taking a punt on him lining up in the Ryanair next year, and the 50/1 available with several bookmakers looks far too big for this seven-time Grade 1 winner.

He won the Manifesto Novices Chase at Aintree over 2m4f in April 2024 while he put in a 173-RPR performance to win the Clonmel Oil Chase over 2m5f back in November. He is clearly able to perform at two miles but his second-best performance on figures is that run at Clonmel. He’s been savage on both outings over the intermediate trip.

I just wonder if Willie Mullins will pitch Kopek Des Bordes and Il Etait Temps up against each other at some stage next season. If he does, and Kopek Des Bordes is as good as I think he is, then Il Etait Temps could be the one to go out in trip. After all, he is the one with the form in the book over those sort of distances.

A shrewd friend of mine recently mentioned to me about Il Etait Temps’ chase form on nice ground. He is unbeaten in six starts when the going description is yielding to soft, soft in places or better, including five Grade 1 victories. There are a few moving parts but if the ground came up quick and he lines up here, he’d be a single figure price – let alone 50/1!

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY - Stayers' Hurdle (25/1)

I was quite surprised to see HONESTY POLICY available at 25/1 for the 2027 Stayers Hurdle and that could end up looking like a huge price come next March. Four of the first seven home in this year’s race are aged nine or older, with the likes of Home By The Lee, Bob Olinger and Hewick candidates for retirement at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Dan Skelton seemed adamant that Kabral Du Mathan didn’t stay the three-mile trip and that leaves Ballyburn and Honesty Policy as the remaining runners from the first seven home. While the former has obvious claims, he’s short enough at 9/1 and you could argue there is more improvement to come from Gordon Elliott’s runner.

He looked to be a horse that thrived with racing last season, with five races in the space of 115 days. This season, he’s been given a quieter campaign – running at Ascot in December before going straight to the Stayers off a 82-day break. Given he was rather keen on both occasions, I wonder if connections will try and keep him busier next year.

Given that he won over 2m4f at Aintree on good ground last season, we may see him at least once more before heading off to grass for the summer. He seems to prefer better ground so it’ll be interesting to see where he starts off in the autumn/winter but I won’t be giving up on him, especially as the division looks weak enough at the minute.

THE RICCI DOUBLE… AGAIN? - Champion Hurdle + Gold Cup

Joe Chambers’ social media post highlighting the LOSSIEMOUTH (Champion Hurdle) and GAELIC WARRIOR (Gold Cup) will go down in the racing annals and I’m well and truly on board for the repeat in 2027. The 19/1 available at the time of writing is hanging by a thread and I’d recommend getting involved now before it goes.

Let’s start with the mare. One of the highlights of the week, Lossiemouth was imperious when winning the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday and she recorded her best figure whilst doing so. She’s a 10-time Grade 1 winner, with four of those coming at Cheltenham and she is undefeated in five appearances at Prestbury Park.

It’s hard to see much coming through – with Old Park Star and Sober Glory rumoured to be going over fences next season. Stablemate King Rasko Grey could go down this route but he has plenty to find on figures and the grey would receive that all-important 7lbs mares allowance. Rejuvenated by those cheekpieces, she looks bombproof to me.

Meanwhile, Gaelic Warrior sets the standard in the staying chase division and you’d imagine that his entire campaign will revolve around peaking for the Gold Cup. He is the ante-post favourite for the King George VI Chase but I’d expect Mullins to keep him on home turf and hopefully he can emulate Galopin Des Champs and record a second Gold Cup success.

With Cheltenham now in the rear-view mirror, attention shifts back to the day-to-day punting grind, and there are still plenty of eye-catching naps on the board from the newspaper judges and the leaderboard toppers alike.

Grand National Hero Nick Rockett Returns Today - For the first time since his 33/1 triumph at Aintree last April, Willie Mullins sends NICK ROCKETT to a racecourse today at Down Royal. He is currently a 20/1 chance to win the biggest race of them all, the 2026 Grand National.

"I don't think we've ever had a horse as quick" - In what has now become a tradition, Aidan O'Brien has proclaimed his 2000 Guineas leading hope to be the fastest ever seen at Ballydoyle. We'll believe it when we see it from ALBERT EINSTEIN this time, Aidan!

Racing News Round-Up

BHA review to examine Cheltenham Festival starts The fallout from last week’s Festival is still rumbling on, with the BHA confirming a full review into the starts after several races were marred by false starts and disrupted beginnings. It remains one of the biggest talking points in the sport, with connections left frustrated after a number of contenders saw their chances compromised before the tapes even went up.

Mullins ground row continues after Fact To File withdrawal Willie Mullins’ criticism of the Cheltenham ground is still dominating the post-Festival debate after the champion trainer pulled Fact To File out of the Ryanair Chase. His warning that he could rethink bringing top horses to the meeting in future has kept the issue firmly in the spotlight as racing digests another controversial week at Prestbury Park.

Match Preview

This is a repeat of the Club World Cup final where Chelsea ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in July. The Champions League is a different story though and current holders PSG will be desperate to secure a victory to take to Stamford Bridge next week. It has not been the best of seasons for PSG so far. Whilst they top Ligue 1, they only have a one point buffer to second placed Lens and they could only finish 11th in the Champions League group phase but scraped through to the last 16 after a 5-4 aggregate win over Monaco who sit in a lowly 7th in France.

Chelsea have hardly kicked on from their Club World Cup triumph though. They sit 5th in the Premier League and will be involved in a tough battle to qualify for next season's Champions League - presuming they don't go all the way and win this year's.The Blues could only scrape past Wrexham in the FA Cup last weekend but they did manage to rest several key players and they'll fancy their chances of avoiding defeat at the Parc Des Princes.

Team News

For PSG, Fabian Ruiz and Quentin Ndjantou are out and Joao Neves faces a late fitness test.

For Chelsea, Wesley Fofana is likely to return to the XI but Estevao, Gittens and Colwill are out.

Verdict

Joao Pedro has been in red hot form of late and he can help secure a positive result for Chelsea. Split your stakes on BTTS & Draw and BTTS & Chelsea Win.

Even if the bet wins, the value doesn’t stop there. Paddy Power are also adding a £10 Cheltenham multi free bet on top, giving punters an extra chance to get involved with the Festival action this week.

Match Preview

Team News

Real Madrid come into this huge European tie with plenty to think about, not least because a number of big names are unavailable. Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo are all set to miss out, which leaves the hosts lighter than usual in the final third and places even more emphasis on Vinicius Junior to provide the spark.

There is better news for Madrid elsewhere, with players such as Eduardo Camavinga and Dean Huijsen back in the squad picture, while Thibaut Courtois is expected to start in goal for this first-leg showdown at the Bernabeu.

Arbeloa has had to deal with a turbulent spell since taking charge, but this is still Real Madrid on a Champions League night at home, so they remain a major threat even with those absences.

Manchester City look to be in healthier shape overall and Pep Guardiola has confirmed Erling Haaland is back available after missing the FA Cup win over Newcastle. That is a huge boost for the visitors given his ability to turn even a tight game with one moment in the box.

City are not without issues of their own, though, with Josko Gvardiol still sidelined and Mateo Kovacic only recently back in training after a long lay-off, meaning Guardiola may still need to be careful with his midfield balance.

With Haaland back, and with creators such as Bernardo Silva and Rayan Cherki around him, City will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet. Equally, Madrid still carry enough pace and pedigree going forward to make this a dangerous night for the Premier League side.

Head-to-Head

This has become one of the defining rivalries of the modern Champions League, with Real Madrid and Manchester City meeting again for the fifth straight year in Europe.

Recent meetings have been tight, high quality and usually full of chances, which is one reason Paddy Power have built this offer around at least one goal being scored.

Real Madrid won both meetings between the clubs in last season’s knockout phase, but City did beat them 2-1 in the League Phase in December 2025, so there is no shortage of recent history on either side.
