Iain Jardine's Tomily has been extremely well backed in the 13:35 contest, but with him shortening significantly then there could be some more enhanced value elsewhere, and it's the Jim Goldie-trained Tanasoq that looks to stand a great chance of returning to winning ways. He is 15 runs without a win, but he has plummeted down the handicap, and is now rated 29lb lower than his last winning mark. Dropped a further couple of lbs for a third placed finish at Hamilton earlier this month, the eight-year-old will enjoy the step back to five furlongs, and the former Epsom Dash winner can prove to have too much class for his rivals today.
14:10 Carlisle
Like the aforementioned Tanasoq, the Tim Easterby-trained Afandem is heading to Carlisle on Monday afternoon looking to end a long losing streak, but he is another that looks very attractively handicapped, if returning to his best, and he is the selection in the 14:10 contest. Winless in 18 outings, the seven-year-old is 3lb lower than his last winning mark, and while he was last of seven on his last start, it's his Carlisle record that makes him an eye-catching bet. On his three previous visits to the northern track, Afandem has bagged a win and two second placed finishes, so a return to the venue after a two year hiatus can see him recapture his form, and he looks a superb bet.

John Quinn's Hope Probe has been on a steep upward curve this season, and having won at Catterick in mid-April, he was then just denied next time out at Musselburgh, but the three-year-old can record another success this afternoon in the 16:30 at Carlisle. He's been upped 4lb for that Musselburgh effort, where he was beaten by a the progressive Kodiac Brown Bear, but the pair pulled well clear of the rest of the field, and if he can continue to blossom on the level then he looks the most likely winner in an intriguing betting heat.
