Today's Horse Racing Tips: Maulde to score at Cheltenham
There are two bets for today’s racing at Cheltenham and Fontwell.
Cheltenham Tip
13:45 – 3m3½f Jewson Click And Collect Handicap Chase (Grade 3)
This looks an excellent opportunity for EMPIRE DE MAULDE (NAP - 1 point win bet at 5/2) to register a big Cheltenham success for his Scottish-based trainer James Ewart. Former Champion Jockey Brian Hughes also makes a relatively rare visit to the course and will be aiming to continue his good record aboard this horse. Race fitness certainly won’t be an issue for this progressive seven-year-old as he raced a few times over the summer and also ran in September and October. His latest effort, in a Class 2 handicap over 3m2f at Kelso, was a visually impressive performance and saw him win by a very comfortable three-lengths. Talked about as a potential Scottish Grand National horse afterwards, he looks set for an exciting season and will encounter his optimum race conditions today.

Fontwell Tip
15:10 – 3m3½f Oberon Investments Southern National Handicap Chase (Class 3)
GLENO (1 point win bet at 9/2) enjoyed a really good 2020/21 campaign with three wins and a close second from his five starts. He ended the season with a victory at Chepstow, where he stayed on strongly at the end of an extended 2m7f trip to get up on the line. A remote second behind an easy winner on his seasonal reappearance at Exeter last month, he once again did his best work at the finish and should therefore relish today’s marathon trip. He is also entitled to have come on for that run. Today’s ground conditions should be ideal and he represents Jamie and Gary Moore, who both have excellent records here at Fontwell. He is just 1lb higher than for his Chepstow success and has a nice racing weight of 10-7, which is over a stone lighter than those at the top of the handicap. Premier D’Troice and Rose Of Aghaboe complete the shortlist.
