Olly Murphy's Italian Spirit has been a real model of consistency in recent times and could still be open to some improvement, so is entitled to be a prominent figure in the betting in Warwick's 13:25 contest. However, the value play against the favourite is the Jack Barber-trained LAMANVER BEL AMI, who was an excellent winner at Worcester last time out and could be capable of striking again this afternoon. Upped 5lb for a comfortable success last time out, the seven-year-old appeared to enjoy the return to hurdling after a chasing career, and he can continue on an upward curve today and bag back-to-back wins.

14:00 Warwick

Alan King's THE GLANCING QUEEN was a really classy mare over hurdles, and she showed her ability when finishing a fine fifth in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. She built on that performance by starring on her chasing debut at Bangor-on-Dee, where she kicked off her career over the larger obstacles on a winning note. Lining up in her second chase this afternoon, the Barbury Castle inmate will have a lively adversary in the shape of Henry De Bromhead's Kapard today, but The Glancing Queen can defy the 5lbs she gives away to her market rival and can make it two from two over fences.

14:30 Warwick

There's a competitive looking novices' handicap chase at 14:30, and one that could outrun their lofty odds is the Jennie Candlish-trained OSCARS LEADER, who will make his chasing debut this afternoon, but looks attractively handicapped, if building on his hurdling career. Rated 120 over hurdles on his last run, Oscars Leader will line up off 115 here, and having finished in the places in seven of his last eight races then he's shown a real consistency. Available around the 20/1 mark, at the time of writing, Oscars Leader will need to show fluidity over his fences, but if he can take to the new sphere then he can go close at big odds.
