Today's Racing Tips: Music to hit the right tune at Chelmsford

Advised at 2/1, yesterday’s Kempton selection, Sydney Street, was well backed through the day and won nicely having been sent off as the 6/4 favourite. Hugo Palmer’s three-year-old was providing yet another winner for in-form jockey Ross Coakley and will next be seen in a higher grade.

The final race on the card is restricted to low-grade horses rated less than 50, so naturally the field is made up of inconsistent performers with poor strike rates. One of the few runners that has potential for improvement is the 49-rated WESTERN MUSIC (NAP – 1 point win bet at 3/1), who will be making just her seventh career start. Placed in two of her last three outings on the All Weather at Wolverhampton and Southwell, David Barron’s filly looks set to strike and can outclass today’s rivals. Barron has his runners in good form having sent out three winners from his last eight runners, and I am a big fan of jockey Jason Hart, who gets on board this four-year-old for the first time. Hart is 5-28 for Barron in the last five years to a £1 level stakes profit of £10.50. Western Music was beaten by just ¾-length at Southwell last month and given that it was her first outing for 109 days, she is entitled to have come on for the run. Based on her recent performances and the stamina in her pedigree, it is likely that she may need further than this seven-furlong trip in time. She will therefore be well suited by a strong pace and I’d expect to see her finishing strongly. The biggest danger is Laurentia whilst the booking of Hollie Doyle aboard Trevie Fountain is an eyecatcher.
