Beginning in 2007, the Breeders’ Cup expanded to its current two-day format by running a handful of its races the Friday before the main event.
The Breeders’ Cup races run on Friday have changed over the years (the Distaff used to be the feature race) but currently the day is a showcase for juvenile horses, with all 2-year-old Breeders’ Cup races appearing together on the program. The day is highlighted by the Grade 1, $2 million Juvenile and Grade 1, $2 million Juvenile Fillies, and includes three other million dollar races: the Juvenile Turf, the Juvenile Fillies Turf and Juvenile Turf Sprint. Despite its position as an opening act for the more renowned Breeders’ Cup Saturday, Friday still provides all the world-class racing and excitement of its counterpart.
We'll have full coverage of all the races in the days before the 2020 Breeders' Cup.
