Bob Baffert is regarded by many in the Horse Racing community as the best dirt trainer around. Maximum Security has shown himself to be the world’s top dirt horse. The two of them are set to join forces following the scandal surrounding Jason Servis that has led to federal indictments being handed down alleging that the previous trainer of the Saudi Cup winner administered performing-enhancing drugs to the three year-old.

Owners of Maximum Security, Gary & Mary West confirmed that following the federal indictments, they would be moving all their horses to new stables to work with new trainers and that their most famous horse will be teaming up with Bob Baffert when he gets out of quarantine following his return to the USA after his Saudi Cup victory.

Gary West released the following statement on Tuesday:

‘Yesterday, Jason Servis, a trainer we have used for five years was indicted on multiple charges regarding using an illegal substance in horses,’

‘This news is extremely disturbing and disappointing. Therefore we will be moving all our horses from Jason Servis as soon as arrangements can be made with other trainers. Maximum Security will be sent to Bob Baffert.’

Servis is one of 27 individuals to have been charged in this case. It is most certainly yet another stain on the racing industry with the sport hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

It is expected that the goal for Maximum Security will continue to be geared towards being in tip-top condition for the Breeders Cup at Keeneland in November but with so many moving parts, it is best to watch this space.

Other prominent owners are pulling their horses from Jason Servis’ stable due in large part to trainer Jorge Navarro also having been charged in the federal indictment.
