Most Likely Winner: (Race 3: Vegas Weekend #1, 3/1):

Trainer Rob Atras had an excellent NYRA run during the summer, and heads into Aqueduct with much promise. The 3-yr-old filly by Mineshaft joins her new barn after working for conditioner Fausto Gutierrez. What a year that fellow had with Letruska for St. George Stable … so, now this young female is going to have the chance to achieve even more. Atras has a great sense about him, and I would expect this runner to continue her current win streak—which is currently at 3. The able-bodied Kendrick Carmouche gets the call, and we all know what he can do …

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #1

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 5: Kitten Mischief #11, 10/1):

I do not normally get behind a 1st time starter, but this gelding by Into Mischief is just too inviting to ignore. Augustin Stable has this George Strawbridge bred runner coming into his debut with much to like. On the dam side we have Kitten’s Joy in the background, and that sire needs no introduction. On top of all this good news, we have John Velazquez riding for Jonathan Thomas, and that makes me think that this 2-yr-old has a real chance to break his maiden in fine style. Thomas is a master when it comes to grass starts, so if you get double-digits come post time, then take what the board gives you. This one is a “best bet.”

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #11 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Turf, 1 Mile, ALLW82k, F&M 3+):

If this one stays on the turf, what with the possibly of weather rolling in, then Christophe Clement looks to have what is the “presumptive favorite.” Messidor #5 has some decent bloodlines on the dam side, but what really makes her dangerous is the fact that she ran 3rd in her last 2 races at Belmont. Each time she was bested by Evvie Jets #2, who is a 3-yr-old by Twirling Candy. The Kantamaci Barn is looking to secure her 1st win since coming over from Tony Dutrow’s outfit.

Watching this pair duke it out once more is going to be interesting, but I actually think that Shug McGaughey’s Windfall Profit #11 deserves another shot. The filly by Malibu Moon did not care one bit for Belmont’s turf last time, and coming back to the “Big A” should be just the ticket. The HOF trainer is choosing to add “blinkers,” and if this Stuart Janney homebred can take some “give” in the ground, then he could be a great price around 8/1. The appointment of Luis Saez once again is excellent too. It is time for this one to get her 2nd career win, if you ask me.

Using all 3 of these turfers should do the trick … Let’s go get us a “Tri!”

Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Box, 2/5/11

Enjoy a November with NYRA! Best of luck on another run at the “Big A!”
