At the Post Position Draw for the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Morning Line Odds certainly gave the suggestion that this could very well be one of the most wide open races at this year's event.
With no fewer than seven horses at single digits in the M/L Odds, as quite often is the case with younger horses, no-one is super confident in any of them just yet.
The Christophe Clement trained Pizza Bianca is the shortest in the field opening at a lukewarm 5-1. A winner on debut at Saratoga, she was sent north of the border whereupon a second-place finish in the Grade I Natalma Stakes at Woodbine was her reward.
Four other horses however have already tasted victory at Graded Stakes level early in their careers. California Angel won a decent edition of the Grade II Jessamine down at Keeneland just three weeks ago. Mise En Scene has come over from the UK where she won the Group III Prestige Stakes at Goodwood in August. The daughter of Group I winner Siyouni did step up to Group I level herself last time finishing fourth in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.
Another Euro invader with eyes on the prize is Malavath who scored a Group II win in Chantilly in France last time out whilst Bubble Rock hails from closer to home with the Brad Cox trained filly a winner in the Grade III Matron up at Belmont in early October.
Both Consumer Spending and Koala Princess are also very short prices making this race a tough one to read at this early stage of the week.
Our racecard is at the top of the page with all the M/L odds is at the top of the page and check back later in the week for J.N. Campbell’s preview along with my thoughts for the race.
