Kentucky Derby Profile: Summer Is Tomorrow

Summer Is Tomorrow might just be the runner with the weakest resume heading into the Derby on Saturday. I don't think JN Campbell is particularly interested in backing the horse looking at what he's written below...

The Seemar Barn, which is primarily based in the Middle East, is coming with their colt by Summer Front to the Kentucky Derby. That sire has some nice offspring, but they have primarily been turf horses … War Front is in the background, of course … However, here is the chance for the barn, and the sire to make a big splash. I cannot say that this one’s form isn’t promising because the colt did compete in some tough races in Dubai at Meydan.

Yet, other than the UAE Derby (G2), they really do not compare to the road that the North Americans have taken. With a bloodline that is not as strong as Crown Pride (JPN) … the Japanese entry who won the UAE just ahead of Seemar’s runner … I think that this is going to be a very tough ask. When you have a large field like this one, I would use others that make much more sense when it comes to their ability. No disrespect to international entries because I think they have just as much right to come to the Derby once they obtain the “Points,” but the word daunting comes to mind.
