Most Likely Winner: (Race 11: North County #10, 5/1):

I am all-in on this filly by Not This Time in the Bourbonette S. (Oaks "Points" 50-20-10-5, to the Top 4) … A ½ to the super-talented Asmussen-trained Epicenter, this one has some major potential to get to the lead and score. She was outclassed in the Rachel Alexandra (G2) at the Fair Grounds, but at the same time Brendan Walsh’s charge has built a strong resume. It is comforting to know that Adam Beschizza is along for the ride once again, and I would not count this one out. Her style of running suits the Tapeta course at Turfway perfectly, and I will be placing a big bet on this one come post time! I think 5/1 on the tote would be a dream!

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #10

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 10: Invader #1, 8/1):

With a big field in this “Non-G” contest, you could go in many directions. I think that sticking with what you know is the solution. Trainer Wesley Ward just continues to put quality runners in the field. This War Front 5-yr-old has much to offer as he ratchets up the class ladder. Ward pairs nicely with James Graham, and I like a Ward trainee that likes to break well … making the lead. At some juicy odds, maybe we have a superbly-priced winner with this one!

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #1 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 12: Dirt, 1 1/8th, Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3), $600k, 3):

The scratch of the former Baffert runner, Blackadder #12 is disappointing, but we will sally forth in this KYD148 "Points" contest. I particularly like Mike Marker’s Stolen Base #2, and I will continue to back this turfer turned Tapeta router because he comes from a great ownership group in Three Diamonds Farm. Still, it is hard to resist the running ability of Ray Handal’s Constitutionlawyer #11. That son of Constitution exits a “key” race in the Grade 3 Withers S. at Aqueduct. As you will see from a feature I have coming out on Tuesday, this NYRA-based conditioner has a strong workout mentality. The appearance of Jalon Samuel, Handal’s go-to rider is a nice choice, and I think in a race like this one, he will be severely overlooked. If we could get 50/1 at post time, then I would consider that a significant overlay. Here’s to hoping … What a race this is going to be!
