Belterra Park Track Details

Address: 6301 Kellogg Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45230

Meeting:  Belterra Park conducts racing for five months out of the year, typically from late April to the end of September. Though the track operates at a lower tier than many of its competitors, it still offers plenty of lucrative stakes races to Ohio-breds - a program that has seen a resurgence in recent years. Giving it an edge on its fellow Ohio racetracks, Thistledown and Mahoning Valley, Belterra also conducts turf racing throughout the meet.

History: Formerly known as River Downs, Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center is a racetrack and casino (racino) located in Cincinnati, Ohio. River Downs opened its gates in 1925, 15 years after the closing of Old Oakley Race Course, and most famously hosted Seabiscuit on two occasions in 1936 — he ran third in the Western Hills Handicap and also third in the Eastern Hills Handicap. After the Cincinnati flood of 1937, the track was christened River Downs. A seven-furlong turf course was added in 1956. In October 2013, Pinnacle Entertainment, which bought the track in 2011, renamed the oval Belterra Park.

Facility: Belterra Park’s new grandstand has 1,200 stadium-style seats with room for an additional 1,000 bleacher-style seats on bigger race days. The track is a one-mile dirt oval with a seven-furlong turf course inside of it. As a racino, Belterra offers over 1,300 slot machines to choose from on its gaming floor. There are also numerous dining options including the Stadium Sports Bar & Grill, Market Buffet, and Club 38.
