The Juvenile Fillies Turf was first run in 2008 as part of an expanded Breeders’ Cup lineup that encompassed two days of world class racing. For the first two years it was run the race was ungraded, but in 2010 it was made a Grade 2 race and was then upgraded to a Grade 1 in 2012. The Juvenile Fillies Turf is run at one mile on turf for 2-year-old fillies, as its name implies, and carries a purse of $1 million. There are currently five ‘Win and You’re In’ events for the Juvenile Fillies Turf: the Grade 1 Natalma at Woodbine, the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, the Group 2 Rockfel at Newmarket, the Group 1 Prix Marcel Broussac at Longchamp and the Grade 2 Jessamine at Keeneland. The race has been dominated by trainer Chad Brown, who has won five of its 12 runnings and three consecutively from 2016 to 2018. In 2014, Brown saddled Lady Eli to victory, who would go on to be named Champion Female Turf Horse in 2017.
