History: First run in 2013 at the distance of 1,800 meters, this race starts off the Japanese leg of the Road to the Kentucky Derby, where the horse with the most points is guaranteed a spot at the Run for the Roses should they so desire. Despite starting in 2003, it wasn’t raced between 2008 and 2014. It was reintroduced in 2015 and in 2016 became part of the Japanese Road.
The 2003 edition was the only one at the 1,800 meters length with every subsequent running coming at the mile distance. It is a flat race open to two year-old horses.
