Meeting:  Fairmount’s meet begins in early March and stretches all the way to early September. Racing is typically only conducted on Tuesdays and Saturdays, however the schedule expands to also include Fridays during the months of June and July. Racing at Fairmount is on dirt only.

History:  Fairmount Park is located in western Illinois in the town of Collinsville, which is a part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. It is one of five active horse racing venues in Illinois, and is the only one outside of the Chicago metro area. The track opened in 1925, and for many years offered both thoroughbred and standardbred racing until the latter was discontinued in 1999. As recently as 1997, Fairmount offered as many as 232 live horse racing dates per year, but that number has dropped steeply due to increased competition from other gambling entities in the area. The track is expecting to rebound in 2020 due to a law being passed in the state in 2019 permitting Fairmount to install slot machines and provide a sports betting facility.

Facilities:  Fairmount conducts its racing over a one-mile dirt oval. There are several dining options on site, including two restaurants overlooking the track. Fairmount is expected to add casino-style gambling and a sports book by 2020.
