Race Distance: 1 1/16 mile

History:  The Kentucky Jockey Club is a Grade 2, 1 1/16-mile prep race for juveniles that was first run in 1920 and is traditionally held the last week of the Churchill Downs Fall Meet. In 1931, the race was moved to nearby Latonia Race Track, but it returned to the twin spires just a few years later in 1934. Though it offers the same amount of qualifying points as every other 2-year-olds prep excluding the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the race is assigned added significance by many fans and handicappers due to it being contested on the same track as the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Jockey Club has produced five Derby winners, including Reigh Count, Clyde Van Dusen, Twenty Grand, Cannonade and most recently Super Saver.
