Most Likely Winner: (Race 6: O’Trouble #7, 2/1):
I like the head of steam that O’Trouble #7 is building. He is a Snowpiercer, moving through canyons of ice. His last race was a jump into ALLW Co. from the MSW-types, and he turned in a nice performance—2nd. He can build on that effort and Tony Dutrow is presiding over this horse’s progression every step of the way. The “Big A” suits his style, and with jockey Dylan Davis aboard, he should cruise along towards the wire for the win.
Wager: $100 Win, #7
Favorite I Am Against: (Race 5: Truebelieve #4, 5/2):
I am against Truebelieve #4 from the Arriaga Barn. My sense is that even with a class drop that will not help him win in this spot. I want some value, so instead I think I am going to pick Larceny #8, who had a time of it last out against these types. These Tale of the Cat’s always run well at sprinting, and I like T-Mac riding in this spot too. This gelding won a race 2-back at AQU, and that was a good effort at long odds, 21/1… no larceny involved, promise.

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 7: Centavo #3, 6/1):
I tried to find a super long shot somewhere on this card, but came up a bit empty. Some rock turning did out this runner from the Carlos Martin outfit. Here is a young colt full of ability out of Flashstorm. Centavo #3 is a Florida-bred who is enjoying a cold snap up @AQU. He is making the all-important jump from the MC-level to a St.Opt. Clm-er. This is not easy, especially against a field like this one. I think he is ready with Jorge Vargas riding. Hopefully, that jock can work out a trip, and spring the upset against some favorites who look pretty tough (i.e. Civil War #6).

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 3: Dirt, 1 Mile, ALLW72k, NY3+):
There is a nice little ALLW race that should be an interesting betting opportunity, even though the number of runners only comes to a half-dozen. The odds-on favorite in this contest is Too Early #3, who looks to be a sensible pick since this gelding is common in classes like these. The problem is that he has not won in some time, and I would rather look for an entry that is a much better price. For that reason alone, I want to back Moonlight Now #2, from the barn of Charlton Baker. He was just “ahead” last out in a MSW60k event. I am not a huge fan of speed figs, but when I noticed that he posted a career best, that convinced me. Adding to an Exacta another favorite in Tiergan #6, that should make for an interesting wager.
