Most Likely Winner: (Race 8: Doswell #5, 5/2):
It is a great pleasure to see Barclay Tagg’s gelding by Giant’s Causeway make his way back to the turf. After spending the winter down at Gulfstream Park, he is back-in-action at Belmont … a track where he has enjoyed some success. The last time he raced, it was against some tough rivals like Colonel Liam and Never Surprised in the Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1). After a break, Tagg brings him back rested and ready for duty. He can handle the distance test, and it will be interesting to see where Kendrick Carmouche places him … try to get loose on the lead, or track from 1-2 lengths off of it. Should be fun to see this veteran run.
Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #5
Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 9: Crimson Rocket #7, 12/1):
Against what looks to be a pretty open maiden race, I want to take a shot with a 1st time starter. This is specious reasoning to some, especially since you just never know how they are going to react being in a “live” contest. A gelding, this 3-yr-old has shown promise on the training track, and he could be ready to fire. I like the trainer-jockey combo of Bill Mott and Jose Lezcano. You cannot go far wrong with these two … a HOF conditioner, and a rider that has major experience with young runners. His price is going to be excellent come post time. I am going to overlook his inexperience.
Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #7 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)
Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 7: Dirt, 1 Mile, OC45kn2x, F&M 3+):
The Main Track is where this 1-turn mile will take place for state breds. Older fillies and mares are present, and it is going to be tough to get passed the class-dropping Shalimar Gardens #5. Horacio De Paz has this filly by Uncle Mo primed for a score. Trying to beat her, with such strong form, will not be easy … Jose Ortiz was aboard her before. Looking up and down the sheet, I am interested in Mark Hennig’s Epona’s Dream #6. By Orb, she has extensive experience running at this distance, and against similar rivals. Her conditioner sends her to the track to compete about once a month. She has come ever so close on a number of occasions, and now gets the services of Joel Rosario. He did pretty well on this one’s sire … didn’t he … winning the Kentucky Derby. I think her time to visit the winner’s circle has arrived, and her price is going to be excellent at odds of 10/1, or maybe even higher. Here is the recommended play that I will be punching in at the window.
Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Wheel, 6 w 5 w 1/2/3/4/7

Enjoy the day at beautiful Belmont! Best of luck on another run at their Spring/Summer Meet!
