She might not be the favorite on the Morning Line but I’m most excited about seeing the Aiden O’Brien filly Love who is making her first trip across the pond to the States. This daughter of Galileo hasn’t had a stellar 2021 but she has been going up against the boys and more than being competitive. A return to just racing against the girls undoubtedly puts her towards the top of my betting thoughts entering this race.
It is however the Bill Mott trained War Like Goddess who will open as the betting favorite at 7-2. On the back of four straight victories this daughter of English Channel has impressed mightily on the turf and had a Grade I win to her name in the Flower Bowl Invitational at Saratoga.
The three betting favorites come from three different continents with the Japanese based Loves Only You joining Love at 4-1 on the Morning Line. This will be the five-year-olds first time away from her home country so in a similar vein to Love, that has to be taken into account when considering who to back.
The defending champion in this race from the 2020 Breeders’ Cup returns to defend her title but that was the last time Audarya won a race. 2021 has not been great having only hit the board twice in her four races with both of those being second-place finishes. 5-1 seems short to me. Fellow France-based filly Rougir is also a short price coming off a win in the Group I Prix De l’Opera at Longchamp in October.
Our racecard is at the top of the page with all the M/L odds is at the top of the page and check back later in the week for J.N. Campbell’s preview along with my thoughts for the race.
