Charlie Appleby and Godolphin are always happy to fly around the world to take on the biggest and best races and it may well be in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf that they have their best chance to go home with a victory to their name.
Both Modern Games (5-1) and Albahr (6-1) are among the favorites on the Morning Line for the race. It is Albahr who may well be more known to the US bettor having come over early from the UK for a quick stop-off at Woodbine where this son of multiple Group I races Dubawi won the Grade I Summer Stakes. Legendary jockey Frankie Dettori has a few rides here at Del Mar but this is his biggest chance to win yet another massive race.
It will be another UK based horse though who will see his name at the top of the book when the pools open. Dubawi Legend, who unsurprisingly given the name, is another Dubawi colt will open at 4-1. He’s yet to win at the top level having twice hit the board at Group level over in England.
Mark Casse will send out three horses as he hopes to notch up another win at the Breeders’ Cup. With four winners from 42 starts so far in his career at this event, it may be tough to imagine his fifth victory coming in this race as Credibility, Coinage nor Grafton Street are considered top contenders. However having three in the race could lead to some interesting tactics so maybe not one to immediately toss.
Portfolio Company for Chad Brown is a son of wonder turf sire Kitten’s Joy. He has the distinction of being the first winner of the 2021 Saratoga meet for his trainer. A 6-1 play on the Morning Line who has hit the board twice at Graded Stakes level.
Another top UK jockey rides in this one as Ryan Moore will saddle Glounthaune. He won last time out at Leopardstown in the Group III Killavullan Stakes.
Our racecard is at the top of the page with all the M/L odds is at the top of the page and check back later in the week for J.N. Campbell’s preview along with my thoughts for the race.
