Sean's Take...
This Stonestreet Stables homebred with an impeccable pedigree has certainly run to it at times. She was an impressive debut winner at Churchill Downs last fall, which she followed up with a runner-up finish in the G2 Golden Rod to close out the year. She returned with gusto in the G2 Rachel Alexandra at Fair Grounds in her 3-year-old debut, defeating one of my favorite Oaks fillies Travel Column, but then proved no match for that one in the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks. Given my affinity for Travel Column I take nothing away from her second in the Fair Grounds Oaks, and while it’s tough to envision a scenario in which she comes out ahead of her main rival, she’s clearly a prime exotics threat with an outside shot at finding the winner’s circle.
J.N's Take...
Another Stonestreet homebred runner comes into the KYO with much promise. The central question surrounding her last race (03/21, FG Oaks-G2) . . . was it a regression, finishing 2nd to Cox’s Travel Column? If you think it was just a “blip,” then she could bounce back nicely going longer. However, if you think that decelerating speed fig she posted does not bode well, then this daughter of Curlin could be in trouble.
I think Asmussen’s filly has battled Cox’s ably, maybe even the word “gutsy,” could be offered to describe her grit. The other side of the coin is that it might be time to declare her a “just missed” type. There is no doubt that she has major ability and will do well the rest of the year. But she is going to be up against it in the KYO. Tyler Gaffalione is a significant rider upgrade, but that may not be enough to get her across the wire first. Grade: C+
