Sean's Take...

She’s run some pretty good races in her career and certainly belongs in this field, however her breakthrough victory last out came in an incredibly soft edition of the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. Furthermore, she just hasn’t seemed to progress off the speed figures she was earning as a 2-year-old, which doesn’t bode well for the toughest assignment of her life. She’s probably one to avoid as the Gulfstream preps, of which she was at the fore, were largely forgettable.

J.N's Take...

A cloud of suspicion surrounds Phoenix Thoroughbreds (Principal Owner: Amer Abdulaziz Salman), as they are being investigated in several international jurisdictions in what has become known as the “One Coin” scandal. Money laundering and horse racing, appear intertwined, and in some locales it appears that the stable is banned from entering. Not in the KYO, apparently . . . the show goes on, and it must give Kenny McPeek pause.

Despite these legal ramifications, the team is pushing their filly forward, and it will be interesting to see how this situation develops. She has more than a fair chance to win in this spot, especially considering she won the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) back in late March. That had some nice runners in it, and she is coming into her own in this division. The daughter of Liam’s Map has a strong routing ability, despite some sprinting pedigree underneath. With Jose Ortiz in the irons, he should be able to challenge this field, and be around at the end. Will the purse money be available to the connections, if she wins? That is the question . . . Grade: B-
