The draw for the 148th edition of the Kentucky Derby took place on Monday as the 20 runners (plus two also-eligibles) were allocated their posts via the standard pill pull method.

With a $3million purse, it is one of the richest races in the world and without a doubt one of the most famous.

All the Post Positions are listed below along with an overview of the draw itself. Our man JN Campbell has written up his profiles of all the entries which will be live on the site from Monday evening...

With the late defection of Un Ojo, Ethereal Road for D. Wayne Lukas came into the field of 20 on Monday morning as we got our final field. The four-time Derby winning trainer hasn't won the race in the 21st Century and if he is to pull off the upset, his Quality Road colt will do so from the outside Post Position of 20.

Morning Line second-choice Epicenter for Steve Asmussen will break from stall number 3. On the back of victories in the Risen Star and Louisiana Derby, this son of Not This Time is certainly going to attract plenty of money at the windows. I would not be shocked at all if by the time the race starts - he's the top choice.

Zandon got the nod as the M/L favorite at 3-1 as Chad Brown's solo entry this year gets a middle of the gate PP of 10.

It was Mo Donegal who got the dreaded inside post. Even though eight horses have won from the inside, none have done so since Ferdinand back in 1986. A 10-1 price though is short for the rail.

The luckiest Post Position historically has been PP 5 and it is Smile Happy who will race from that stall on Saturday.

Mandaloun crossed the line second last year but got promoted to the top spot after Medina Spirit got disqualified. They were in PPs 7 and 8 respectively. This year it is Crown Pride and Charge It who'll break from those posts.

Messier at 8-1 is your third choice on the Morning Line with White Abarrio and Taiba also very intriguing horses at enticing prices.
