LATE PICK 4…

LEG 1: (Race 7: Dirt, John W. Galbreath S. 100k, 1 1/16th, 2 F):

We have some 2-yr-old fillies that are ready to fire in this Ohio Bred festival to kick off the .50 Pick 4. I like Alexandria #5 because she is simply the best of the lot. Her running style on the front end makes her dangerous, and reigns supreme after a 3rd place finish in the Pocahontas (G3). Excuse? She got squeezed and put her at a disadvantage. Who doesn’t like Tim Hamm right now? Great story for a trainer headed to the Breeders’ Cup.

Selections: Single - 5

LEG 2: (Race 8: Dirt, Best of Ohio Sprint S., 100k, 6F, 3+):

Feel the need for some speed? Here ya go… Turners and burners will go 6F in this 100k for Ohio Breds. KEE Phoenix (G2) dropper Mo Dont No #4 for Anthony Quartarolo is the class of this field after that 8th Place finish at 81/1 against Diamond Oops. Welcome to the small pond, big fish. That is not a recipe for an instant win here though because we have some others within hidden potential. The 1 that I spy is Altissimo #7 who can handle this level and might be the co-favorite, especially for those that do not trust the Quartarolo charge. Best to go 2 deep and leave it at that.

Selections: 4/7

---------------------------------------------------------

LEG 3: (Race 9: Dirt, Best of Ohio Distaff S., 100k, 1 1/8th, 3+ F/M):

I have saved some dollars at this point, and that might translate to going a little deeper in the one. The distance in this 100k is a concern because it is hard to determine this group’s fitness level. Going 6F is one thing, but this is more than just a stretch out. Some will appreciate it, but it will be tough. Instead of overanalyzing here I am going with Moonlit Mission #3 as my tip top. I want to roll in Real Fancy #4 who has had a number of good finishes at Presque Isle Downs, and also Drillit #5 for Robert Gorham because his 2020 Thistledown stakes action counts for some nice experience. Lastly, I want the seasoned 8-yr-old mare, Cali Dream #8 for local man Gary Johnson. She will be a square price and can run at this level. You never know in here…

Selections: 3/4/5/8

---------------------------------------------------------

LEG 4: (Race 10: Dirt, Best of Ohio Endurance S, 100k, 1 ¼th, 3+):

Nothing like a full field of 10 runners for the finale. We saved the best for last, and we have the Kentucky Derby distance—1 ¼! This is not called the “Endurance” for nothing, as most of these have not travelled this great a distance, except maybe in the pasture. My focus moves to the appropriately named, I Wanna Win #8 for James Jackson. He is a solid 4-yr-old gelding with really no marks on his record to speak of in 2020. Luis Rivera rides him for the first time, but no matter, that 2nd place bomb he hit at 18/1 back at Thistledown in a similar 100k is good enough for me. I am going to get a great price too. I want to include others just as a precaution. Those include Wicked Warrior #6, the favorite who is riding in on a 3-win streak, and Forewarned #10 whose class is undeniable, even though his record is less than savory. For good measure, before I close these selections, I will toss in Visual Mission #5. This is not a whim, though. I am a fan of his jockey, Gerardo Corrales. What a hardworking fellow, and his skill is undeniable piloting for the barn of Wesley Ward. Include him…

Selections: 8/6/10/5
