Sean's Take...

Following her runner-up finish in the G3 Gazelle at 18-1, she’s perhaps the most surprising addition to the Oaks field. Just a couple months ago this filly was languishing in the maiden ranks and had yet to crack a Beyer Speed Figure of 67, but all of that changed in the Gazelle, which netted her a Beyer of 88. Despite what that number suggests I don’t think she’s a serious contender in this race, or even an exotics player, and if anything her presence in this race may be the biggest indictment of Search Results, who figures to be among the favorites.

J.N's Take...

If you are not familiar with Rob Atras runners or his record as a trainer, you are missing out. He is part of a major family that has invested in the business of Thoroughbred racing. He is more regional, and spends his time running at the NYRA tracks, so that is probably why you may not be familiar with his ability. It is great to see him enter in the KYO after earning some major points with this filly out of Honor Code.

The race that did it was the Gazelle (G3), and she ran well (going 5w) against the Chad Brown power runner. That was a 250k race, and before that, she was only entered in MSW Co. Coming into the Oaks, she has ability, and a level of fitness that could be an excellent weapon. One of the other assets she possesses is her jockey, Kendrick Carmouche. What a record he has amassed, after winning some major races last year and into this one. Atras will have this one ready to fire, and success is going to be in her future, no matter what happens in Louisville. Grade: B-
