Sean's Take...
If I don’t like Crazy Beautiful, then it stands to reason that I definitely don’t like the runner-up from the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. It’s a shame, really, because I had high hopes for Millefeuille heading into the year following a game try behind Malathaat in the G2 Demoiselle to close out 2020. However, her performances at Gulfstream this year have been alarming considering her trainer Bill Mott’s unprecedented success at the Championship Meet. If she couldn’t do it there I have a hard time believing she’s all of a sudden going to improve here.
J.N's Take...
Sandwiched in between Crazy Beautiful and Competitive Speed in the GP Oaks, this daughter of Curlin (another one . . .) took a step forward after a disappointing finish in the previously run Davona Dale (G2). When he climbs aboard on Friday, jockey Joel Rosario will find a runner has the ability to run just off the pace. The major issue is that she has been unable to close out races, facing competition that has extra jets down the lane.
Rosario can make a difference, and HOF trainer Bill Mott is happy to have him. After all, he rode this filly during her first 3 races. If he can put her in the proper position, she could play spoiler to the favorites. Nothing like a well-bred filly who gets 2 of the very best in the business. Add in the fact that this is a Juddmonte homebred. Sleeper pick to be sure . . . Grade: B+
