Celebrated Oaklawn Park is like a college town ... a college town of horse racing, that is ... Hot Springs is celebrating some glorious racing. It should be an absolute blast! Speaking of blasts ... some weather is rolling into Arkansas on Friday Night, and it could make for some wintry mix hitting Hot Springs in the afternoon. Be sure to check Vic Stauffer's scratches and changes, as the day unfolds.

At Horseracing.net/us we have you covered, including all of the action! It is a good time for some of the best that North American racing has to offer. Stay tuned!

Most Likely Winner: (Race 7: Switzer #12, 4/1):

You are probably going to get more than a fair price when it comes to backing this colt for Ron Moquett. Drawn to the 12-hole, some might interpret that as a bad omen. I think it could play into jockey Ramon Vasquez’s hands. His mount that he takes over from David Cabrera does like to set back and bide his time. With a wet track possibly in the cards for Saturday, that might not be the best plan. I am unworried because I think stretching out to a 1 mile is exactly what this one wants to do. By Maclean’s Music, the colt who is part-owned by Bob Lapenta should be able to make a run in the 4-5 path. Let’s let Vasquez do his job. He has ability, and his numbers prove it. Moquett adds “Blinks,” and that should assist too. Watch the tote … anything over 3/1 is an overlay.

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #12

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 6: American Chaos #8, 8/1):

Looking for bargains on the boards at Oaklawn is quite a pastime. I think I found a nice one from the DiVito Stable. This colt by Midnight Lute could appear to be more of a turf horse, but I think he has the ability to take this one on the dirt. Last out in Hot Springs, he tried the muddy track in an OC80k event, and was in over his head. Trying this kind of company after starting his career at Arlington in MSW Co. was just not in the cards. I think this is the proper level to drop down into, and though this barn has a small sample of both “claiming starts” and “2nd layoff” stats, it is going to be a nice bet. Francisco Arrieta is a rider upgrade … no doubt about that. If you get 8/1, that looks to be a gift to my eyes.

Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #8 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, Fifth Season S. $150k, 4+):

It might be a mess of a track on Saturday, but it will not a race to miss. This is a good field that has drawn in for what is an island hop into the Grade 3 Razorback S. @OP. With a talented group of trainers, jockeys, and horses in here, it is sure to be an interesting one to wager and watch. I am particularly keen to see Jeff Bloom’s Snapper Sinclair #3 get back to the dirt. This is a versatile son of City Zip with some major versatility and experience (36/7-9-4). A little over a year ago, he was at Oaklawn, winning an OC80k event going this very distance. That was a prep for a trip to Dubai to compete in the Godolphin Mile (G2). After a solid ’21, Bloom’s Team (Asmussen) brings him back to Hot Springs where his on-track record is not too shabby (9/2-3-1). It is too bad Joel Rosario is over on Brad Cox’s Concert Tour #5 because he knows “Snapper” very well. One to watch … As for who will be the favorite, it is going to be Cox’s new acquisition. The colt by Street Sense was in Bob Baffert’s keep in ’21, created some buzz when he won the Rebel S. (G2) @OP. Missing KYD147 was a bummer, but his finish in the Preakness (9th) was even more so. Gary and Mary West made the call to move their prize to Brad Cox, and off since last May, this will be his 1st start. If he can come off-the-bench and run to his potential, then he could be a force to be reckoned with. Rosario … Cox … this pair can be a juggernaut. One other entry that piques my interest, and probably deserves to be on my ticket, is John Ortiz’s Mucho #9. This 6-yr-old deserves respect, and looks to be in his prime. The change to Florent Geroux (since Reylu Gutierrez is @FG) is a great move. He knows how to hustle his mount up into contention early or late in the game. That runner will help round out what will be a nice score!

Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Box, 3/5/9

Enjoy another fab Saturday trackside! Best of luck on another run at Oaklawn Park!
