Preakness Stakes Odds: Medina Spirit & Concert Tour top choices on International Markets
The Futures Market for the Preakness might not be open in the US yet but that doesn't mean we can't get a good indicator of how the Pimlico linemaker might be leaning ahead of the Entries and Post Position draw next week.
Over in the UK, several bookmakers have started to list odds on the race and unsurprisingly the two favorites are the two we would fully expect. Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit is listed as the 5-2 joint-favorite with stablemate Concert Tour also listed at the same price.
The former is looking ever-increasingly likely to attempt the second-leg of the Triple Crown. His owner hint at wanting to go for it should the opportunity arise in the Press Conference after the win at Churchill Downs. Trainer Bob Baffert has also said that at the moment there is no reason to believe he wouldn't be making the trip up to Maryland.
As for Concert Tour - he was widely expected to be one of the top contenders under the Twin Spires before a really disappointing run in his final prep race - where he came home third in the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn. Initially it was thought he would have a bit more of a freshening up back in California but he's been confirmed as a probable for the Preakness with Mike Smith tabbed to ride the son of Street Sense.
The status of Brad Cox trained Mandaloun is still up in the air but if he does run - he'll be available at 3-1 if these odds are to be believed. The runner-up in the Kentucky Derby would be a prime candidate should he be pointed to Pimlico.
Caddo River (7-1), Midnight Bourbon (10-1) and Rombauer (12-1) are next up with the UK bookmakers. We'll update the site with any major movements as we await the Morning Line odds on Monday.
