History: The Patton Stakes is very new to the Irish Horse Racing calendar having only first been established in 2013. It essentially replaces the Loughbrown Stakes that took place at the Curragh. The race takes place on Ireland's only artificial horse racing track.
Originally a seven furlong race, it added an extra furlong to get to the mile distance in 2018 so it could be added to the European Road to the Kentucky Derby.
This is the first race that sees a jump in qualifying points awarded after the first four on the European Road to the Kentucky Derby featuring the 10-4-2-1 system. Each top-four finishing position in this race is worth double.
Qualifying Points: 20-8-4-2
