Morning Line Odds: 30-1

Liveyourbeastlife is odd to type, but I want to root for this guy after he put in a heroic effort in the Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga by passing fellow Preakness runner, Jesus’ Team, with a powerful move. This is just too tough a spot here in the Preakness.

Breaking from the 11 hole isn’t a death sentence, but T-Mac in the irons is going to have his hands full against betters here. This was a high priced one out of Ghostzapper, and William Lawrence paid for him to the tune of $200k. It just proves once again that investing in Thoroughbreds is difficult and not for the faint of heart. The “Beast” still has a ton of life in him, and I would expect Jorge Abreu to try to get him out early for a shot at the lead. That does not mean he will make it because we could have a duel up front with Swiss Skydiver, Authentic, and Art Collector. 30-1 or higher is pretty accurate a price for this one, from a trainer with little experience in Graded Stakes.

Chance: Snowball In Hell
