13:50 Glorious Goodwood - Coral Glorious Stakes
A really trappy race kicks off the final day at Glorious Goodwood, with a host of different firms having different favourites in the Glorious Stakes. All five runners have strong claims and while it would be no surprise to see this lot finish in any order, I did think RELENTLESS VOYAGER brings most to the table and so Andrew Balding's charge rates the bet in here.
He's still relatively lightly raced and while his winning run came to an end last time out in a good race at York, I'd say that third placed finish in the Listed event was arguably better than his win at Epsom the time before on Derby Day.
Al Aasy is probably the one I'm least keen on as he has flopped multiple times at Goodwood in the past and is a tricky customer, while I suspect the main danger is the blatantly progressive Aimeric - who heads the market at the time of writing - for Roger Varian. He hasn't been far off the last twice and should enjoy Goodwood again after running second here last time he came down to the South Coast.
14:25 Glorious Goodwood - Coral Summer Handicap
He may be eleven now, but there's been little evidence EUCHEN GLEN is on the downgrade judging by his efforts this season and considering he has been in the money in this race for the last three years, I see no reason not to back him again each-way with extra places on offer.
Jim Goldie's old legend won on his penultimate start and lost little in defeat last time out when sixth at York, weakening a tad after leading for most of the race and then being hampered and losing another place or two.
I love Rossa Ryan as a rider and think he will be perfect for Euchen Glen, so while there are much younger horses in here who are definitely on the upgrade and probably more likely winners - namely the favourite Align The Stars - Euchen Glen is worthy backing at massive odds as an each-way return at his current price would pay more than simply backing the favourite win only.
15:00 Glorious Goodwood - Lillie Langtry Stakes
I've been against her in the past, but think 3/1 is too good a price to turn down about FREE WIND in this winnable looking renewal of the Lillie Langrty. The Gosden mare has not quite hit the heights of her hugely impressive Yorkshire Oaks win last August since, but looking at the season Bluestocking has gone on to have it is safe to say her defeat by that rival in the Middleton reads a lot better today than it did in the immediate aftermath.
She's had a nigh on 80 day break since then and has a good record fresh so in a race with no standout rival, she should take a lot of stopping if cherry ripe. The other horse I was toying with putting up and I do rate as the chief threat despite her big price is Irish raider Dancing Tango for the flying Joseph O'Brien team. She was unimpressive a fortnight ago in the Curragh Cup but that was a tougher race than she faces here and I think she'll be suited by the test Goodwood offers.
