Bwin Welcome Offer: £20 Backup Free Bet for New Customers
The Austrian gambling company Bwin was founded back in 1997, originally being called Betandwin, before floating on the Austrian Stock Exchange in 2000.
In 2001 they merged with Partygaming and became Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment before being purchased by Entain (also owners of Ladbrokes) in 2016; they have offices in Vienna, Stockholm and Gibraltar.

Mistakes To Avoid When Claiming the Bwin Welcome Offer
We’re extremely keen for you to get the most out of the Bwin welcome offer.
For that to happen, including actually receiving your Bwin free bet and being able to withdraw winnings from it, there are a few mistakes to avoid that could result in you not making the most out of the Bwin welcome bonus.
Here’s your ultimate checklist of DO’S and DON’TS.
Depositing methods to avoid
Make sure you don’t deposit using any of these methods as they will exclude you from getting the free bet. They are: Skrill, Entropay, Paypal, Neteller.
Make sure your qualifying bet…qualifies
It needs to be:
- The first bet that you place at Bwin.
- For between £10 and £20.
- A multi-bet with at least three selections.
- At odds of 2/1 (3.0) or greater.
- Not on horseracing.
- Not a System Bet.
- Placed using your own cash; not placed using Free Bet money.
- A bet that isn’t Cashed Out.
- Not an Enhanced Acca and not using Price Boosts.
Make sure you claim and use your free bet correctly
- Make sure you log into your account shortly after your qualifying bet is settled.
- Check that the free bet is for the value (or more!) of your losing qualifying bet.
- Be sure that when placing the free bet, you actually use the free bet rather than betting with your own money.
- Be sure to place your free bet as a single.
- Make sure that it’s placed on football and not any other sport.
- And most importantly of all: use your Bwin free bet within 7 days of it being issued to you, or else it will expire.
Top Tip: Remember that you only get to keep the winnings from the free bet, not the stake as well. So it might be worth being a bit ambitious in terms of the odds at which you place the bet remembering that the stake won’t be returned to you. If your £20 free bet is struck at odds of 1.25, you’d only get paid out £5 if it wins. But if you take more of a risk and place your £20 bet at odds of 3.0 and it won, you’d win £40. But it’s up to you!
Bwin Free Bets and Offers for Existing Customers
There’s a lot more to Bwin promos beyond just their welcome offer. Here are some of the best:
Best Odds Guaranteed
Always get paid out at the highest odds on winning horse racing bets: the odds at which you placed the bet on the day of the race, or the horse’s Starting Price, whichever is bigger.
Boosted sports acca odds
Get boosted payouts up to 70% when adding extra selections to your acca. To be eligible you need to include selections from certain named markets (check the Ts and Cs) from the following sports: football, American Football, basketball, ice hockey, baseball and tennis.
Predict 5
A free-to-enter competition where if you correctly predict the correct score in 5 selected matches, you can win £5000 in cash or a share of it if there are multiple winners that week. There are also smaller cash prizes for getting 1-4 correct scores right.
Our Experience Using Bwin
When writing this article that’s mostly focused on the Bwin new customer offer, I opened an account, claimed and used the offer and researched and experimented with all aspects of the Bwin site. Here are my conclusions on it:
Sports, markets and odds
They offer betting on just about any sport you can think of and have hundreds of pre-match and live betting markets for the biggest events within those sports. The generosity of the odds was quite variable. In some cases, they were close to being ‘best price’, in other cases their odds were a bit below the industry average.
Bonuses
Horse racing fans will be glad to know that the Best Odds Guaranteed offer is available on all UK and Ireland races because it can make a real difference to your P and L. I also enjoyed entering the Predict 5 competition which is completely free, fun to play and can see you win big money without raising any of your own. Though there are some Enhanced Accas for football, I’d also like to see some enhanced odds on singles as well, as not everyone is into accas.
Live Streaming
As a big fan of being able to watch events that I’ve bet on already or am planning to bet on in Live Betting and which may not be on TV, I was interested in looking into their live streaming offering. I was extremely impressed with the number of football and tennis matches they stream every day and happy to see they also stream the likes of snooker, table tennis, volleyball and basketball. But I was a little surprised they don’t have streaming for horse racing and greyhound racing like most other betting sites do.
Site design
Everything is easy to find on a well-designed site and it includes additional information like a Stats Centre for certain sports.
