About Our Results
This page updates throughout the day to give you horse racing results soon after the race has happened. We only display the basic information here but you can follow the "Full Result" link to access more in-depth information on what happened in the race, the finishing positions and the starting prices (ie SP odds) for each horse. We even show you who tipped the horse pre-race which may lead you to want to access more of their selections in the horse racing tips section.
This page defaults to showing today's live racing results, but you can access racing results for a specific day using the calendar picker or via our yesterday's racing results page.
Below is an overview of the important information included on our uk horse racing results today.
Finishing Position
The most important of these is, of course, first but, when it comes to place and each-way betting it’s important to know the horses finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th. All positions are shown on our UK racing results today.
Winning Distance
These are expressed in “lengths” which is based on the length of each horse. So “2” would be 2 horse lengths and “¾” would be three quarters of a length. You will also see the following abbreviations used on our results with the distance expressed in the form of a horse’s neck, head or nose.
Dht = dead heat
Nse = a nose
Hd = a head
Nk = a neck
Jockey & Trainer
See who rode and trained the winning horse and click through to their own profile pages to see any upcoming runners. Race results today are the form guides of tomorrow so look for clues to see which trainers and jockeys are currently in form.
Starting Price
The SP as it is generally called is the industry standard odds offered on the horse when the race started.
In-Running Notes
A really handy way to understand how each horse fared as the race was run. These notes will highlight important information such as whether they started well, whether they raced prominently or towards the rear and how well they finished the race off.
Horse Racing Results
It’s not always easy to find all today’s racing results in one spot — but we’ve got you covered at HorseRacing.net. Using our interactive results table, you can browse by date and course, or filter by time and meeting.
And you can be sure we don’t waste any time when it comes to publishing the latest racing results. Just moments after the horses cross the line, you’ll be able to see what order they came in right here on our site.
Another benefit? We show distances and starting prices of all runners alongside the final results. With archived results dating back over five years, HorseRacing.net is the perfect place to carry out a bit of research before making your next bet.
When are the results displayed?
Our horse racing results for today are displayed in two stages. Firstly, the provisional race result is shown on this page shortly after the horses cross the line. Whilst provisional results are usually accurate they do not take into account stewards enquiries or photo finishes which may cause the finishing order to be amended. However, the provisional result gives you a quick view of the horses that crossed the line first, second and third.
For betting purposes it is the official result that counts. This is confirmed once all the jockeys have weighed in and any objections or stewards enquiries have been concluded.
To give you as much information as possible to help with form study and future bet placement we provide full results for every race. These include winning distances and in-running notes for every horse in every race so these take a bit more time to be fully populated on the specific race result page.

Major Horse Racing Events
Whether you’re looking for horseracing results from the British Classics and other distinguished flat races or legendary steeplechases like the Grand National, HorseRacing.net offers UK racing results as they happen across the season.
Cheltenham Festival Results
You’ll find all the horse results for Cheltenham Festival here at HorseRacing.net. This National Hunt festival comprises 28 races over four days at Prestbury Park, and plays host to Grade I courses like the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, and Queen Mother Champion Chase.
The 2023 instalment ran from 14–17 March, with Galopin Des Champs claiming victory at the prestigious Gold Cup. Cheltenham Festival will next take place on 12–15 March 2024.
Grand National Results
The pinnacle of the horse racing season, the Grand National is arguably the most famous steeplechase in the world. It’s seen its fair share of twists and turns through the years, such as Noble Yeats’ 50-to-1 upset in 2022 and Tiger Roll’s back-to-back wins in 2018 and ‘19. The course distance is 4 miles and 514 yards, with horses jumping 30 fences in a bid for a share of the £1 million prize purse.
You can find the latest Grand National result on HorseRacing.net just moments after the horses have crossed the line. We’ll also have results from the full three days at Aintree. The Grand National will next run on Saturday 15 April 2023.
Royal Ascot Results
As if five days of elite racing wasn’t enough, the rich history and tradition of Royal Ascot is a significant part of the allure. In fact, you’ll often see the Royal Family in attendance alongside roughly 300,000 spectators.
The Gold Cup is the jewel in the crown and takes place on the third day of the festival — colloquially known as Ladies’ Day. A Grade I flat race over 2 miles, 3 furlongs, and 210 yards, it’s the most prestigious event for stayers in the UK racing calendar. Other noteworthy races include the Queen Anne Stakes and St James’s Palace Stakes.
We’ll have full coverage of the Royal Ascot results here at HorseRacing.net. The 2023 event will take place 20–24 June.
Epsom Derby Results
The Epsom Derby, also known as the Derby Stakes or simply the Derby, is an annual Group I flat race. It’s run at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on the first Saturday of June each year. The course totals one mile, four furlongs, and six yards. SP favourite Desert Crown took the 2022 win, claiming the lion’s share of a prize purse over £1.6 million.
You’ll find the full result for the Epsom Derby — alongside starting prices and finishing order — on HorseRacing.net as soon as the horses have crossed the line.
King George VI Chase
Widely regarded as the second most prestigious chase event on the UK calendar after the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the King George VI Chase takes place annually on December 26th at Kempton Park. Southern Hero won the inaugural 1937 edition, navigating the three-mile and eighteen fence course under the stewardship of jockey J. Fawcus. Open to all horses four-years-old and over, the King George VI Chase has featured legendary horses like the outstanding Kauto Star, who won five times between 2006 and 2011.
Dublin Racing Festival
Leopardstown hosts the Dublin Racing Festival every February, featuring several Grade I races including the Dublin Chase and the Irish Gold Cup. Despite being established as recently as 2018, the Dublin Racing Festival has already earned a brilliant reputation, especially among punters looking for valuable tips on potential Cheltenham Festival results. The Dublin Racing Festival covers National Hunt and flat racing, catering to the full spectrum of racing fans. Use our platform to follow all the results as they happen across the fifteen races over the weekend.
2000 Guineas
The 2000 Guineas is one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious Group I flat races. First run in 1809, the Newmarket-hosted event is currently the first British Classic of the season. Only open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies, the 2000 Guineas can indicate which horses to look out for over the rest of the Classics.
1000 Guineas
The second British Classic of the season, 1000 Guineas also takes place on Newmarket Racecourse’s Rowley Mile. Three-year-old thoroughbred fillies compete over the mile-long flat racing course in one of the most exciting races on the horse racing calendar. The event’s history stretches back to 1814, and its reputation has prompted many homages across Europe and beyond. The 1000 Guineas is one of two British Classics limited to fillies, targeted by some ambitious breeders as the first leg of the Fillies’ Triple Crown, the other two being the Oaks and St Leger.
Epsom Oaks
The Epsom Oaks is the second-oldest British Classic, established in 1779. Taking place annually in late May and early June, the race pits three-year-old fillies against each other across the one mile, four furlongs and six yards at Epsom Downs. The flat race is one of the top prizes for breeders, with successful horses often tasting success at other significant events like the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the Breeders’ Cup Turf. Our platform provides all Epsom Oaks racing results as they happen, alongside detailed pre-event racecards and expert tips powered by the Racing Post.
St Leger
First run in 1776, the St Leger Stakes is the oldest British Classic and the last one of the season. It also serves as the English Triple Crown’s final leg, generating considerable excitement and anticipation. Taking place in September at Doncaster Racecourse, the three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies race covers one mile, six furlongs, and 115 yards. The St Leger Stakes has staged numerous famous horses over the years, most notably Nijinsky, the last Triple Crown winner in 1970.

How to Read a Racing Result
Checking the daily UK horse racing results won’t mean much if you don’t know how to read them. HorseRacing.net is here to help beginners and experienced punters alike. If there is any confusion as to how to read the results, check below for a quick step-by-step guide on doing so:
- Use this page to see an overview of the result soon after the horses cross the line - ie the Fast Results. The number of horses shown is in line with the standard number of each-way places paid by bookmakers.
- Click the “Full Result” link on the race to get a more in depth view of the result.
- Look at the winning distance and the distance between the other finishers in the race.
- See which jockey rode the horse and click into that jockey to view any upcoming rides he has. The same applies for the trainer of the horse.
- See the SP (starting price) of the horse. These are the odds offered by bookmakers at the point the race started.
- See which tipsters tipped the winner and the placed horses.
- Read “in-running” notes for each horse to get a good picture of what happened during the race.
What is a Void race?
In very exceptional circumstances, races can be declared void. This could be due to an accident or other unforeseen event that requires the race to be stopped or decelared null and void for betting purposes. If a race is declared void, all bets are refunded by bookmakers.
What is a dead-heat?
If you see the abbreviation “dht” in the winning distance section of our British horse racing results and see two or more horses with “1st” alongside their name, it means that the race has been declared a “dead heat”. This means that two or more horses crossed the line together and were unable to be split by a photo of the finish. When dead heats occur, only a proportion of winning stakes are paid out as winners. So if you had placed a £10 win bet on a horse that finishes in a dead heat with one other runner, half of your stake (£5) would be paid out as a winner and the other half would be settled as a loser. In the extremely unlikely case that three horses finished dead-heated, a third of your stake would be paid out as a winner.
How many each-way places are paid on each race? How is it worked out?
Traditionally the number of each-way places paid by bookmakers on horse race results was determined by the number of runners and the type of race.
4 runners or fewer = win only
5-7 runners = 1/4 odds 2 places
8+ runners in a non-handicap race = 1/5 odds 3 places
12-15 runner handicaps = 1/4 odds 3 places
16+ runner handicaps - 1/4 odds 4 places
However, increasingly bookmakers are veering away from these standard terms and offering their own unique place terms on a race by race basis. It is not unusual now to see bookmakers offering 1/5 odds for 6 or 7 places in some of the big handicap races so today racing results need to specify which horses finished in those positions.
What are Tote Returns?
Tote betting involves betting into pools rather than betting at fixed bookmaker odds and Tote returns are the payouts declared for the winning bets. The Tote offer a range of different bets ranging from the simple Tote Win wager to bets such as the Swinger or Trifecta which involve picking multiple horses to finish in the places. If you manage to pick a winning Tote bet you can check today's race results and dividends on our Full Results pages.
