About Our Tips
Horse Racing Tips from HorseRacing.net are supplied by over 50 expert tipsters and journalists from publications such as The Racing Post, The Sun and The Daily Mail together with our own analysts including Raceolly, Steve Chambers and Billy Grimshaw.
This page focuses on Raceolly's selections plus the most popular tips from across our pool of tipsters. To view tips for a specific race, just navigate to the race via the today's racecards page and you'll see them displayed underneath the jockey silks.
One of the most popular pages on our website is the naps table which is a daily competition run twice each year designed to find the best tipster for the Flat and Jumps seasons. Each tipster selects a nap each day and their position in the table is based on their profit and loss to a £1 stake. And another extremely popular page focuses on our Lucky 15 tips today - this involves putting four horses into one bet that covers the four single bets, six doubles, four trebles and an accumulator. It can pay huge amounts for a small stake.
Types Of Horse Racing Tips
Our free horse racing tipsters offer an array of tips and picks across a range of different betting types — here’s a rundown of the most common.
Win
A win bet is the most straightforward type of bet you can make, as it’s simply a bet on which horse will win a particular race. If your pick crosses the finish line first, you’ll receive the specified payout. Win bets are generally less risky than other options as you’re only relying on one selection to come good.
Each Way
An each way bet is effectively two bets: the first being on the horse to win, and the second bet on the horse to place. The designated places vary across different races depending on the number of runners, but ‘placing’ typically refers to finishing in the top 2, 3, or 4. Horse racing tipsters may recommend an each way bet on the Grand National, for example, as there are lots of runners in a highly competitive race.
Double
Horse racing tipsters may also recommend a double bet. Here you’re betting on two horses to win two different races. For the bet to win, both selections have to come good. If one horse wins and the other is pipped to the post, you’ll lose the bet and your stake. Placing a double can be a good way to increase the potential payout if you’re betting on two favourites with short odds, for example.
Lucky 15
A Lucky 15 consists of four selections across 15 different bets: four singles, six doubles, four trebles, and a fourfold accumulator. Tipsters can recommend four horses for upcoming races and the Lucky 15 assembles them into multiple betting combinations. Punters choose a unit stake, let’s say £1, and the total cost will be 15 times this amount — £15 in this example. At a minimum, you’ll receive some return if one of your horses wins, thanks to the single bets. If more of your selections win, your winnings will increase.
Accumulator
An accumulator is a bet with four or more selections bundled into one. This can be a combination of different types of bets, such as wins and each way bets, but the accumulator only pays out if all of the selections are successful. As a result, accumulators typically carry greater risk but larger potential payouts.
Tipping Categories Explained: Selection Criteria and Types
Here at HorseRacing.Net we have tips for every single race run in Britain and Ireland each day. The tips are collated using a number of methods, with those used listed here:
Most Tipped
A simple one to start with, the most tipped horse in the race is exactly what it says on the tin; the horse that has been tipped to win by most of the experts whose opinions we have available on our site.
Biggest Price Tip
This is the style of tip that those who love a longshot will enjoy. The horse at the longest odds in the race who has been selected by at least one expert as their idea of the winner is the biggest priced tip in the race.
Most Napped
In horse racing parlance, a NAP is the best bet of the day. It is a term derived from the original phrase of ‘The Napoleon’ which was in the 1800s someone’s strongest opinion. Nowadays at HorseRacing.Net we have Naps from over fifty experts each and every day who take part in the Racing Post Naps competition and the most napped horse in a race or on a day is the one who has been picked as the best bet by the most experts.
Biggest Price NAP
Similarly to the biggest price tip, the biggest price NAP is the horse who has been selected as the best bet of the day by an expert on our grids who is available to back at the biggest price. As the NAPs competition reaches its conclusion, we often see plenty of huge price NAPs as experts try desperately to rocket up the rankings.
How do HorseRacing.net tipsters pick a winning horse?
The tipsters we display on our site and those who write exclusively for us will all use slightly different methodologies to select their horse racing tips. Some tipsters make the ground the most important factor, while others are more focused on things like trainer or jockey form.
In horse racing there are a myriad of metrics which impact the outcome and each tipster will have a slightly different style to select the horse they fancy to win any race. Below we list a few of them:
- Form
- Trainer Form
- Jockey Form
- Age
- Weight Carried
- Course Record
- Distance Record
- Headgear

Part of the National Hunt jump racing calendar, Cheltenham is a four-day festival that takes place in Gloucestershire in March. The festival features several Grade I races such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Stayers’ Hurdle, and Champion Hurdle. In terms of prize money, Cheltenham is second only to the Grand National. The event is a steeplechase run over a distance of about 3 miles and 2½ furlongs, and is open to horses aged five years and over. Grand National
