The company behind the brand, Proper Bet Limited, was incorporated in England in 2025 and is registered in York.
Proper Group Holdings Limited controls it and owns more than 75% of the company’s shares and voting rights.
So it’s something of a new kid on the sports betting block, and here's what we make of it.

As regular readers of this website will know, the vast majority of betting sites, whether established ones that have been around for a long time, or new betting sites that have been around for just a couple of years, generally have a welcome offer that is a dangled carrot to the would-be customer: sign up with us rather than someone else, and we’ll give you a reward for doing so.
That could be a Proper Bet free bet, a deposit bonus, or cashback if you end up in the red after your first couple of days.
But right now, there is no Proper Bet new customer offer to claim. They’ll have their own reasons for that, but while it may disappoint potential customers thinking about opening an account there, it’s not the end of the world.

Proper Bet Review
Proper Bet Limited was incorporated in the UK on 11 August 2025 under company number 16642166. Its registered office is at Equinox House, Clifton Park Avenue, York. Companies House records its business activity as gambling and betting activities.
The bookmaker subsequently obtained its UK Gambling Commission licence on 22 May 2026, covering real-event betting, virtual-event betting and remote casino.
Proper Bet's sportsbook is powered by PlayBook Gaming, so you know you’re in good hands there. After careful research, here are some of the pros and cons of playing at Proper Bet.
Positives
- Wide sports coverage: The sportsbook currently lists 25+ sports, including football, horse racing, cricket, tennis, darts, golf, rugby, boxing, MMA and motorsport, so that’s just above average in terms of the number of sports on offer.
- Safer gambling tools: The site provides responsible-gambling (RG) facilities and references services including GAMSTOP, GamCare and Gambling Therapy which we’ll cover in more depth later on in this review. Yes, all bookies have responsible gambling tools too, but RG is something taken particularly seriously here.
- Decent odds- Irrespective of the sport and event in question, the betting odds are very decent across the board.
- Live Tracker- Available for sports such as football and tennis, it helps you stay up to date once the match is underway, which is especially important if you don’t have TV coverage or a stream of the game.
Negatives
- Only accept Visa and Mastercard debit cards as a payment method, so the likes of Google Pay, PayPal and Neteller aren't options here, which is a shame.
- Isn't a fast withdrawal site at present so if you need your winnings paid to you in super quick time, you’re likely going to be disappointed.

Top-notch for in-play betting
The live betting product is particularly strong, with lots of markets across many sports, good in-play odds, and markets that reopen quickly after suspension.
Bet Builder
They have an impressive Bet Builder product for football, letting you combine almost any selections you want, though it would be nice if they extended it to other sports such as basketball and the NFL in the future.
Great livestreaming for racing
By racing, we mean horse racing and greyhound racing; if you want to watch your bets unfold for either of those two sports, you’ve come to the right place because as long as you have a funded account here at Proper Bet, you’ll be able to, rather than having to pay for expensive TV channels to follow the races.
On Which Sports Can You Apply for the Proper Bet Welcome Offer?
As we know, there isn’t a welcome offer, so there are no sports to talk about in terms of which the offer can be used on, and which can’t. But here are two sports we think Proper Bet does particularly well.
Horse Racing
You can bet on races from the UK, Ireland, USA, Chile, and France, and on most races you can bet on the winner market, each-way, forecasts, and tricasts.
As we know, there’s streaming for all racing available here and there’s even a Race Overview for each one with some analysis and tips to help you decide where to put your money.
Football
If you have great racing and football products, you’re likely to go far in this industry because those are the two most popular sports to bet on in the UK.
And Proper Bet certainly takes them both seriously because football is as strong as racing is. Just about every league or competition you can think of is covered, the odds are good, the Bet Builder product is impressive, and there are endless markets to bet on.
That includes the obvious ones - match winner, over/under 2.5 goals, correct score and asian handicaps - but also the less obvious ones such as team to win to nil, first carded team, corners match bet and half with most goals.
Proper Bet Free Bets and Offers for Existing Customers
Unfortunately, one area where Proper Bet isn’t quite at the same level as some competitors is its offers.
We’ve certainly already covered the fact that there isn’t a welcome offer to claim, but there isn’t too much in the way of offers to existing customers, either.
Just as an example, just about every bookie you can think of has price boosts whereby odds are increased on certain selections in a bid for the bookie to attract more business, while the odds boost is also a positive for the customer, of course.
But just like with the welcome offer, Proper Bet has decided not to have Bet Boosts; that’s up to them.
So at present, their offer of offers (!) is just this one.
Proper Rewards: 50p stake for every £10 staked on sports accas
And here’s how it works:
- Earn a 50p Free Bet for every £10 cash staked on Sports accumulators (EXCLUDES HORSE RACING), with a minimum of 3 selections placed between Monday 00:00:01am and Sunday 23:59:59pm, at minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5).
- You need to stake at least £10 in cash each week during the qualifying period to receive a free bet.
- The maximum free bet available is £50.
- Only bets with minimum cumulative odds of 1/2 (1.5) or higher will qualify.
- Accumulators containing any Horse Racing selections are excluded from the promotion.
- Cashed-out bets, Asian Handicaps, Draw No Bet wagers, bets containing void legs and markets with a ‘void element’ are not eligible.
- Any qualifying free bet(s) will be credited by 6pm on the Monday following the relevant qualification period.
- Free bets are non-withdrawable, and the free bet stake itself is not included in any returns.
So as you can see, though it’s not the most generous offer going in the industry, if you love placing accas you’re going to pick up some free bets along the way just for doing what you were going to do anyway.
Is there a Proper Bet Mobile App?
Normally, that’s a pretty straightforward question to answer, but that’s not necessarily the case here!
Proper Bet offers mobile betting through its website and advertises a dedicated app.
However, I couldn't verify a live iOS App Store or Google Play listing for Proper Bet as of 23 September 2026.
A current September review also says the app-store listings had not surfaced publicly and recommends checking availability at sign-up.
But the mobile website is definitely live, with access to the sportsbook, in-play betting, account functions and deposits/withdrawals. As we know, apps don’t always work better than browsers, so if you want to use your mobile for betting at Proper Bet, you can.
Proper Bet Responsible Gambling Features
We’d already said that responsible gambling is something they take seriously here, so here’s an overview of what they have here in that regard.
Proper Bet offers a range of safer-gambling tools to help customers stay in control of how much they deposit and wager.
Customers can set deposit limits to restrict spending over specific periods, while self-exclusion is available for anyone who feels they need a longer break from gambling.
Reality checks are also available so you can remind yourself of how long you’ve been actively gambling for.
Proper Bet also supports GAMSTOP, the UK-wide self-exclusion service covering licensed online gambling operators.
Its website provides links to GamCare, which offers free and confidential support through the National Gambling Helpline, as well as Gambling Therapy, which provides online advice and counselling.

Customers can also contact the brand through its social media channels, including Facebook, X and Instagram.
However, they don’t have a phone line or Live Chat at present so that’s another area they’re going to have to address if they’re to take things to the next level.
Our Experience Using Proper Bet
Proper Bet is a familiar story to us: a new betting site that has started well but still has plenty of work to do to reach the Bet365s, Betfairs, and Unibets of this world.
The positives include lots of sports, competitive odds, good Bet Builders, a reasonably well-designed site, a fine horse racing product, and strong attention to responsible gambling.
The main areas for improvement are the lack of a welcome offer, the single offer for existing customers, the limited payment options, and the limited ways to reach Customer Service.
We’ll keep an eye on them over the next few months to see if they address these issues and, if they do, we’ll consider that good progress, and we’ll recommend them more than we do now.
But even at present they’re worth a go if you’re happy to live with a few limitations.
