Hexam Racecourse is a national hunt course that is located just south of Hadrian’s Wall in the Northumberland market town of Hexam, and the last remaining racecourse in Northumberland.
At 700 metres above sea level it is one of the highest courses in the United Kingdom. It is a left handed circuit of 1 ½ miles that has a short climb on the final approach with a run in of just over one furlong. The chase course has 10 quite easy fences that include a water jump and two open ditches
The course plays host to 14 horse racing meetings over the year which include 2 evening races.
Although no major races take place here it does attract trainers like Howard Johnson who has stables nearby in County Durham.
