Ebor Handicap 2025 Preview & Betting Tips

The Ebor at York is one of Britain's most treasured handicap contests and the culmination of four days of magnificent action on the Knavesmire at their flagship meeting. The one-mile-and-six furlong contest carries a top prize of £300,000 and UK trainers will be aiming to bite back this year, with three of the last four winners based in Ireland.
A 22-strong field is set to take to the York course and we've picked out our best bets for the Ebor Handicap alongside some useful stats and trends.

Johnny Murtagh didn't manage to put an Ebor winner on his impressive CV as a rider but he has made up for that with two wins since taking out his training license and he has another stellar contender in Siege Of Troy now.
The Siyouni filly runs in the Qatar Racing silks and has been showing pleasing form this season at trips up to 1m4f. She was fourth behind today's rival Ethical Diamond at Royal Ascot in June but is 8b better off here and that’s before factoring in the 7lb claim of rising star Patrick McGettigan. There is every chance Siege Of Troy can excel at this new trip and put her teenage rider on the map.
Hipop De Loire suffered a nightmare passage when finishing fifth in this race last year and Willie Mullins' contender could be a key player this time under Colin Keane.
Shadow Dance is very consistent for Roger Varian and has winning York form on his CV. The Almanzor gelding was back from 10 months off and shaped well over a trip shorter than ideal at Glorious Goodwood last month and lurks on a very fair mark.

· Outsider To Watch: Almosh'her
· 1-2-3 prediction: 1st: Siege Of Troy, 2nd: Hipop De Loire, 3rd: Shadow Dance
