Greenham Stakes Preview & Betting Tips: Rashabar To Reign

The Greenham Stakes at Newbury is one of Britain's first recognised Classic trials in the turf season, coming in the month of April as the Guineas Festival at Newmarket starts to enter the consciousness of Flat fans. The Greenham Stakes is a Group 3 contest run over seven-furlongs for three-year-olds. After Wollow (1976) and Kris (1979) completed the Greenham-2000 Guineas double three years apart at the end of 1970s there was a long wait until the next horse emulated that feat – the mighty Frankel (2011) some 32 years later. The Greenham is set to take place on Saturday, April 12th this year, with a scheduled off-time of 14:35 and it will be shown live on ITV Racing and Sky Sports Racing in the UK.

Greenham Stakes Predictions
- Winner - Rashabar: Brian Meehan and Sean Levey teamed up to win this race two years ago with Isaac Shelby and they have another excellent contender here in Rashabar, a sturdy looking son of Holy Roman Emperor. He was twice beaten in maidens last season before a shock 80/1 win in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. He then finished second-best in two Group 1s in France behind smart Ballydoyle-based inmates Whistlejacket and Camille Pissaro. There could be plenty more to come this season.
- Each-Way Selection - Rogue Allegiance: This race was won last year by David O'Meara and his once-raced Newcastle winner Rogue Allegiance is one of the real unknowns in the line-up now. He was well-backed and cruised to that December success at Gosforth Park and the Classic-entered son of Kodiac has scope for much better.
- Predicted 1-2-3 Finish: 1: Rashabar 2: Rogue Allegiance 3: Chancellor
