Horse Racing Tips: Lyra tipped for Listed glory at Newbury

A hugely impressive five-length winner on debut at Newmarket, Golden Lyra will look to kick on from that fine success at Flat HQ by storming to Listed glory in the Listed Abingdon Stakes at 15:10 at Newbury on Thursday afternoon. The William Haggas-trained Lope De Vega filly is a red-hot Evens favourite for today's contest and has proven popular amongst our racing tipsters as four of them including Whistler from the Sunday Telegraph and Glendale from The Scotsman.

The most popular selection from our naps table along with Golden Lyra is the Ben Haslam-trained Lightening Company, who is a red-hot 10/11 favourite for the 19:25 at Haydock Park, and has been napped by the likes of The Score from Racing TV and Jon Freeman from The i.

Steph Hollinshead's The Golden Cue is a huge 50/1 outsider for the 16:00 at Nottingham, but has caught the eye of Rory Delargy from the Irish Field, who has put up the big-priced contender as his nap of the day, but he will need to recapture some old form. The seven-year-old was a winner at Nottingham a few years ago off a mark of 60, so the eye-catching mark of 45 suggests he could play a notable role, but he's been out of form of late, so will need to bounce back to cause a shock.
