ITV Racing Tips: Two To Back On Saturday

Goodwood and Sandown take centre stage on ITV Racing this Saturday, with Goodwood's Celebration Mile the main event on what should be a thrilling slate of action. Billy Grimshaw is ready to rip in with this week's ITV Racing Tips...

15:10 Goodwood - Celebration Mile

My modus operandi in these big Saturday races is usually to try to take on short priced favourites, but sometimes they smack you in the face with their obviousness and that certainly applies to ZAVATERI in here. Just a week on from running a cracker in the City Of York in fantastic style, he is asked to strut his stuff once more a few hundred mils further south and if anything, I think there's a chance he'll be even more impressive here.

The three year old receives the weight for age allowance and is already 3lbs clear as the best horse in this field, so is in here on some of the most favourable terms you're likely to see in a Group 3, and while we must always worry about horses bouncing he looks tough as old boots and I can't see the short turnaround troubling him. He will also relish being asked to go further on rain softened ground, in my opinion, and barring Qirat bouncing right back to his surprise 2025 Sussex winning form I don't think anything here will trouble him too much.

Seagulls Eleven is consistent but has found a ceiling he keeps banging his head off and I believe the favourite is a level above that, Karl Burke's Boiling Point should also relish stepping down in trip over this track after just being touched off over a mile and a furlong here last time out, but again I feel he is below the standard of the favourite. Perhaps my confidence is, misplaced, but with pace to aim at, receiving weight, softer ground and a mile to run over, I am very sweet on the jolly here.

15:30 Sandown - Solario Stakes

The feature at Sandown is the Group 3 Solario and while the ground doesn't look too bad at the time of writing (Friday afternoon), the weather looks ominous and as such I want something with that I have no soft ground fears for. It may, then, seem counterintuitive that I am backing a once raced winner BREACHER after his debut success came on good to firm, but on breeding and trainer comments this softer surface should be no issue whatsoever.

It is impossible for anyone who listened to trainer William Muir in the aftermath of this lad's comfortable debut success not to be bullish on his prospects, with the trainer waxing lyrical about how good he was on the gallops and declaring him "the best I've ever had". From the trainer of multiple Group 1 winner Pyledriver, that is a comment worth taking notice of. This tip is not all about hype, however, as the numbers backed up how brilliant his debut win was, seeing off a well fancied Juddmonte owned rival. He notably quickened when asked to by rider Lewis Edmunds and put the race to bed in a matter of strides, not something those on debut always do. I feel this could be a special colt and he is a fantastic price at 3/1.

The reason he is available to back at such a tempting price is there is another hype job in here, Roger Varian's Godolphin owned debut winner Rock Montreal. His win was as impressive at least on the eye as that of Breacher, but I am less convinced he will thrive if the mud starts flying and he looks a point or so too short. Both will have to beat more experienced rivals, but they do look the talented pair in the pack and should fight out the finish. I fancy Breacher will come out on top and he's my 3/1 NAP of Saturday.
