Today's Horse Racing Tips: Five to play on a bumper Saturday

Yesterday’s selection, Kind Review (advised at 11/2), ran well in defeat to finish a close third at Newcastle. It was another solid effort by Tracy Waggott’s five-year-old, and I’d now like to see him stepped back up to seven furlongs given that he once again kept on well at the finish.
There are five bets for today’s racing at Lingfield and Musselburgh. Good luck if you have a bet.
Lingfield Tip
13:11 – 6f Betway Kachy Stakes (Listed)
Summerghand is a class act and won the Stewards’ Cup before contesting top sprints such as the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock. Plenty of eyes will also be on Fizzy Feet, who recorded a career best effort over this course and distance last time out. However, she was well beaten when last tried in this grade. The majority of the other runners are stepping up in class including the likely favourite Misty Grey, who has won his last three races in lesser company. I therefore think it is worth taking a chance on BURMESE WALTZ (1 point win bet at 12/1) given that she has made her last three starts in Listed company. She hasn’t made the frame in those races but wasn’t disgraced in a hot race here last time out when having to suffer a wide trip from a tricky draw. She should be able to break well from stall three today, will receive 5lbs from all but one of these rivals and has the excellent Kieran Shoemark on board. Her last win came five starts back on her stable debut at Kempton, where she showed a very good attitude to repel several strong challenges.

Musselburgh Tips
14:05 – 1m7½f bet365 Scottish County Hurdle (Class 2)
Champion Jockey Brian Hughes teams up with Donald McCain aboard BLAKENEY POINT (1 point win bet at 8/1), who won over this course and distance last time out and can follow up today. A Listed winner on the Flat, he has improved with each start over hurdles and appears to have benefitted significantly from wind surgery back in October. This son of Sir Percy remains open to plenty more improvement in this sphere, especially with his breathing issues seemingly sorted and a handicap mark of just 127. The biggest danger is another lightly-raced individual – Torigni, ahead of Ashington, who is making his debut for Brian Ellison.
14:40 – 2m bet365 Scottish Champion Chase (Class 3)
Top trainer Paul Nicholls has won the last three renewals of this race and has another fascinating contender lined up today. ROCKADENN (NAP – 1 point win bet at 4/1) is unbeaten in his three starts over fences (all in France) with his victories including a Listed race Cagnes-Sur-Mer. He was last seen over hurdles at Haydock a year ago and has since joined Nicholls and had wind surgery. A tongue strap has also been fitted for the first time and the very capable Lorcan Williams takes off 3lbs. Proven on soft ground and over further, he is likely to be strong at the finish and can take this before going on to contest better races. I’m To Blame and Ruinous complete the shortlist.

15:45 – 4m1f bet365 Edinburgh National Handicap (Class 2)
THE FERRY MASTER (1 point win bet at 9/2) has made a fine start to his chasing career and has won his last two races in novice company with plenty in hand. This will obviously be tougher but he looks extremely progressive and has a nice profile for this race. His recent two wins have coincided with the fitting of cheekpieces and a tongue strap has also been added for today. As a Point To Point winner and a horse that has been strong at the finish over three miles, he should be more than capable of handling this big step up in distance, but that is always going to be risk in a race like this. He is clearly held in high regard by connections as he holds two entries for the Cheltenham Festival (including in the Grade 1 Festival Novices’ Chase).
I am also taking a chance on MIGHTY THUNDER (0.5 point win bet at 25/1), who has a similar profile to the main selection. He has won two of his three starts to date in novice chases and remains unexposed under these conditions. He was a winner over three miles at Musselburgh over hurdles and could be overpriced here.
