There is an excellent card at Warwick this afternoon
We have four pointers for you today, including a look at an excellent card at Warwick...
1. Supreme Second Set For Chase Bow
Runner up to Klassical Dream in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen back in March, Thomas Darby is an exciting recruit to chasing as he tries his luck over fences in the 13.50 at Warwick. This small field beginners' chase looks a good test over the big obstacles at the midlands track, especially with race-fit Maire Banrigh in opposition. The latter is a spring heeled mare who likes to front run, so is guaranteed to make this a watchable spectacle.
2. In-Form Philip Hobbs Looking For More Success
Winners on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week point to the excellent form of the Somerset stable of trainer Philip Hobbs, who sent out Zanza to win the opener at Newbury yesterday, one of seven successes in his last 25 runners, meaning a current 28% strike-rate. Hobbs has a quartet of runners at Warwick this afternoon, including Barbrook Star in the staying handicap chase at 14.55. The mount of champion jockey Richard Johnson, this horse is a good jumper who could improve now he has a run under his belt.
3. Bumper Winner Ribble Valley One To Watch
Unlikely to be a backable price, it's nonetheless worth keeping a lookout for Ribble Valley as he makes his hurdles debut in the 13.00 Hexham. This horse purred to victory in an Ayr bumper back in January, prompting hopes he could be something far above average for the Greystoke operation of trainer Nicky Richards.
4. Mason Jar Looking To Continue Winning Run
A typical improver for the stable of trainer Dr Richard Newland, Mason Jar completed his hat-trick when comfortably scoring at Ascot on Saturday, a third victory in 27 days and all this achieved in just four runs in total for his new connections. The Grand National-winning trainer wastes no time in trying to unearth another opportunity, with the five year old gelding now tasked with carrying top weight in the 14.35 at Fontwell Races. Sam Twiston-Davies rides.
