The 16:15 contest represents a significant drop in class for OLYMPIC CONQUEROR (5/1), who can be forgiven his defeat on very testing ground in a Class 3 race at Doncaster last time out. Prior to that, James Fanshawe’s three-year-old had gained a first career success in good style at Redcar. He has a 2lb weight-for-age allowance today and finished a close third on his only previous try on an artificial surface.
At a much bigger price, I’ve also taken a small chance on BOYCHICK (50/1) to outrun his odds. This son of Holy Roman Emperor has finished in the first three in more than half of his 17 starts on the all-weather. He’s unbeaten in two previous runs over this course and distance and drops back to this trip for the first time since January 2017.
