AU CLAIR DE LUNE (NAP – 1 point win bet at 13/2) has been beaten by a total of 24-lengths in her last two starts but can bounce back to form now stepped up to two miles for the first time. This beautifully bred filly is a daughter of Sea The Stars and out of a very smart dual-purpose mare who won at Group/Grade 3 level over both hurdles and on the Flat. She was also beaten by just half-a-length in the 2m4f Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup and has produced a Group 3 winning son over 1m6f – a full-brother to today’s selection. Based on that pedigree, the step up to two miles could well bring about the required improvement for George Scott’s four-year-old to record a third career success. Her two previous wins have come over 1m4f at Doncaster and over 1m3f at Kempton, and Richard Kingscote gets on board for the first time

MARS LANDING (1 point win bet at 5/1) will be a rare runner for Sir Michael Stoute at Ripon and can make the long journey from Newmarket worthwhile. A frustrating horse for connections, this four-year-old has been a beaten favourite in four of his last six starts but clearly has ability and can record a second career success. Richard Kingscote, for whom this could be a good day, has been aboard once before and that resulted in a close second at Newbury last summer. He remains 3lbs higher than for his Leicester win back in April but should encounter optimum conditions here. This well-bred type remains open to plenty more improvement as he matures and can get the better of Malhoob and Challet.
