When is Glorious Goodwood 2022?

We are less than two weeks away from Glorious Goodwood 2022, where Flat racing fans are treated to five spectacular days of action with a host of Group races lining up alongside some of the most competitive handicaps of the season, and it's all set to be an epic week of equine brilliance on the south coast.
Starting on Tuesday 26th July, 2022, and going right through until Saturday 30th July, the five days will see attract the leading horses from the UK & Ireland as well as some leading European contenders, and the standout performer of the week is set to be the superstar four-year-old Baaeed, who will be a red-hot favourite for the valuable Group 1 QIPCO Sussex Stakes. Set to lock horns with 2000 Guineas hero Coroebus, Baaeed will attempt to build on victories in both the Lockinge Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes by landing this notable Group 1 prize, and duly maintain his unbeaten record. However, Charlie Appleby's Coroebus is a real class act on his day and this mouth-watering 'Duel on the Downs' is sure to serve up a thriller.
The Sussex Stakes is the feature race on day two of the meeting, with the stayers taking centre stage on the opening day. Four times Goodwood Cup winner Stradivarius failed to land a fifth last season when the Alan King-trained Trueshan prevailed in fine style, and fresh from a stunning weight-carrying performance in the Northumberland Plate that Barbury Castle inmate will hope that the rain comes, so he can take his chance. However, Trueshan and Stradivarius will have to down the new kid on the block Kyprios, who was a gutsy winner of the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last weekend, and the Aidan O'Brien-trained raider is sure to improve for that outing and is another prominent figure in a wide open betting heat.
John & Thady Gosden will bid for Nassau Stakes success on day three of meeting on July 28 as the Prix de Diane heroine Nashwa will be a warm order for the Group 1 event, while a day later on the Friday the speedsters will take to the track for the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes over five furlongs, which will see the ultra-progressive Royal Aclaim aim to continue his unbeaten start to her career.
The likes of the Molecomb Stakes and Vintage Stakes will attracting some of the emerging star two-year-olds, while there will be top notch betting heats in the shape of the Golden Mile Handicap on day four, while the 6f sprint handicap showpiece the Stewards' Cup will attract a hugely competitive field, and currently the bookmakers are going 12/1 the field about that event. Regarded as one of the toughest betting races of the entire season, the Stewards' Cup can see emerging handicappers taking on Group performers dropping down in grade and it's a magnificent spectacle to end a fabulous week.
