About the Chesham Stakes
The Chesham Stakes is a Listed event held on the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot and is run over seven furlongs for horses aged two years old.
Having been extended from six furlongs to seven furlongs in 1996, the Chesham Stakes has often been a race that throws up notable Classic pointers, and while it may lack the prestige of some of the other races taking place at Royal Ascot, it can throw up some really smart winners. Churchill (2016) and Pinatubo (2019) are two of the recent winners that have excelled in better company later in their careers having won here.
Gavin Cromwell's Snellen narrowly got the better of Pearls And Rubies to cause a shock in the 2023 Chesham Stakes.
