About the Hampton Court Stakes
The Hampton Court Stakes is a Group Three race run on the third day of Royal Ascot and is open to three-year-old horses.
It may lack the quality of some of the top-class Group One races on the Royal Ascot schedule, but the Hampton Court Stakes - since it was promoted to Group Three level - has attracted some smart middle distance horses that have gone on to land bigger prizes later in their career, so it's certainly a fascinating race on the Thursday of the Royal meeting, and can unearth a smart winner every now and then.
Ed Walker's Waipiro quickened impressively to land the Hampton Court Stakes in 2023 as the 7/1 shot beat Exoplanet.
Hampton Court Stakes Key Trends
- Four of the last 10 winners have been favourite
- Eight of the last 10 winners were trained in the UK
- No horse bigger than 7/1 has won in the last 10 renewals
Hampton Court Stakes Tips
A chance at the prices is taken that PORTLAND - Ballydoyle's sole representative in this race - is better than what he has shown in winning a weak race at Leopardstown before coming here. This is a race filled with horses with potential but Aidan O'Brien will have had plenty he could send here and it's a mark of confidence just Portland is in.
