Greatwood Hurdle Tips
The 2026 Greatwood Hurdle is due off at 15:10 on Sunday 15 November, the final day of Cheltenham's November Meeting. We will add our tip once the weights and final field are confirmed in the week of the race.
This is one of the most competitive handicap hurdles of the autumn, so look for unexposed, progressive horses who look well treated, as last season's winner Alexei was.
What is the Greatwood Hurdle?
The Greatwood Hurdle is a Premier Handicap over about two miles and half a furlong (2m 87y). It is the feature race on the third and final day of Cheltenham's November Meeting, and is currently sponsored by Unibet. The race is a popular betting event with punters, and is regularly won by a smart performer, including Rooster Booster (2002), Sizing Europe (2007) and Menorah (2010).
James Owen's Burdett Road won it in 2024 a year after landing the Prestbury Juvenile Hurdle at the same meeting. Every race at the November Meeting is shown live on Racing TV.
What happened in the 2025 Greatwood Hurdle?
ALEXEI proved far too good for the field, a real handicap blot, to leave favourite backers in clover on the final day of the 2025 November Meeting.
Trained by Joe Tizzard and ridden by Brendan Powell, the 100/30 favourite won by six lengths from Helnwein, with Faivoir third in an 18-runner field on soft ground.
