International Hurdle Tips
The clash between The New Lion and SIR GINO is a real January treat, but it could well be a formality if the latter named is as good as he has looked since returning from his absence. Hopefully we see a spectacular performance en route to the Champion Hurdle!
What is the International Hurdle?
The International Hurdle is a Grade 2 race run over two miles, one furlong and takes place at Cheltenham racecourse in December. Used as a premier trial for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, the International Hurdle provides a whole host of pointers for the Champion Hurdle, and down the years some smart horses have won this race at Prestbury Park. In recent years Rooster Booster claimed victory in the 2002 International Hurdle before going on to land victory in the 2013 Champion Hurdle, while more recently The New One won three runnings of the race and My Tent Or Yours was another memorable winner.
What happened in the 2025 International Hurdle?
CONSTITUTION HILL survived a last flight scare to claim glory in the 2025 race, although that wayward jump was sadly a sign of things to come as the best hurdler in decades lost his confidence jumping when favourite next time out in the Champion Hurdle.
