What is the Faugheen Novice Chase?
The Faugheen Novice Chase is a Grade 1 race run at Limerick in late December and is run over a distance of 2m 3f 160y.
The race is open to horses aged four years or older and can attract those horses who are eyeing up a trip to the Cheltenham Festival in March, with the Turners Novices' Chase the most likely destination for the winner of this Faugheen Novice Chase.
Down the years there have been some iconic winners of this contest and way back in 1994 subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Call bounded to glory and in more recent times the legendary Faugheen was victorious in 2019 and the name of the race is now named in the honour of the Willie Mullins-trained star
