The race is open to horses aged four years or older and can attract those horses who are eyeing up a trip to the Cheltenham Festival in March, with the Turners Novices' Chase the most likely destination for the winner of this Faugheen Novice Chase.
Down the years there have been some iconic winners of this contest and way back in 1994 subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Call bounded to glory and in more recent times the legendary Faugheen was victorious in 2019 and the name of the race is now named in the honour of the Willie Mullins-trained star
What happened in the 2023 Faugheen Novice Chase?
In a ding dong battle with stablemate Il Etait Temps, it was GAELIC WARRIOR the enigmatic superstar for Willie and Patrick Mullins who came out on top. The horse would go on to win the Arkle with ease at Cheltenham beating the same horse, albeit this race is more remembered for the squabbling cousins in the saddle over the winner's heroics.
